BORN & RAISED is the product of Dane Ernst, Jon Meneley, and Carlos Pulido. During the fall of 2008, Dane was asked to get some people together to open up a show for Corey Posey. Dane called Jon and Carlos, who did not know each other at the time, and picked up the bassist from Corey Posey's band and proceeded to play a 45 min set. The show was received very well by the audience and the chemistry between the 3 band members encouraged them to continue their musical ambitions.
Over the next couple of months, Dane, Carlos, and Jon started writing and recording song ideas, while looking for a stable bassist to complete their quartet. The logical choice came when bassist Vinay Badiwala joined the group shortly before the winter of 2008. From there, Born & Raised began playing open mic night at The Garage in Denton, and after a few Monday nights with good feedback, they were moved to the weekend. Over the course of the 2009 year, Born & Raised played several shows and were encouraged to pick up a singer. After playing without a singer for about 8 months, Born & Raised picked up Jared Bishop, formally of S.A.O. and shortly after combining their forces with Jared, they moved on to play in Fort Worth, Greenville, and Downtown Dallas.
At the beginning of the school year in 2009, Vinay chose to go to medical school in Aruba, which forced the band to find another bassist. Luckily, Miles Norton stepped in for Vinay and brought a funky, blues influence to the band. Unfortunately, Jared and the band parted ways at the end of 2009 and Born & Raised picked up Kenny Hada, cousin of Carlos. After a short stint in the band, Kenny removed himself and the search for another singer continued. Born & Raised held auditions and were drawn to a club bouncer by the name of Jason Webb. Formerly of Red Letter Day and Fallen Breed, Jason was ushered into the band and added an alternative metal vocal style mixed with hardcore screams.
As the year 2010 continues, Born & Raised has plans for the future which includes a finished EP, new merchandise, new sponsors, and new music.
Born & Raised blended the power groove of Jon, the progressive metal soloing ability of Carlos, and the technical funk beats of Dane. The musical genre that was produced is best described as "Progressive Southern Metal", however the diversity of the band includes musical influences from jazz, progressive, metal, blues, funk, and psychedelic.

You said we make some difference
Hell nah i don't see any progress
Hell nah i don't see any process
Don't yeah don't you break the trust
Don't oh yeah don't you break the
Trust don't break the trust
Don't break the trust
Don't ohh yeah don't break the trust
Keep it real ima keep it real
Girl i was thinking to cuff you still
Tell these nikkas on you i kill
Ah sure i love your smile
The booty is mine
Tell these nikkas that you're mine
Tell these nikkas that you're mine
Girl i can rap for you
Girl i was thinking if we keep it real
You know i got the shh ah
I got the pain but i guess you're my
Pill ain't no ring but you make me
Kneel i don't want things to be over
On Jehovah i don't want things to
Be over on Jehovah girl i like it
When you come so closer
Don't yeah don't you break the trust
Don't oh yeah don't you break the
Trust don't break the trust
Don't break the trust
Don't ohh yeah
Don't ohh yeah don't break the trust
I need you more like you need it more
Let it sink babe let it sink i need you
More like you need it more let sink
Ohh yeah ohh yeah
Don't yeah don't break the trust
Don't yeah don't don't

These lyrics are about the importance of trust in a relationship and the fear of that trust being broken. The singer expresses their skepticism about making any real progress or difference in their situation. They urge their partner not to break the trust between them, emphasizing the importance of honesty and authenticity.
The lyrics also reveal the singer's deep affection for their partner and their desire for a committed relationship. They express their willingness to protect and defend their partner from others while asserting their ownership of them. The singer acknowledges their love for their partner's smile and physical attraction, claiming them as their own and warning others to stay away.
The singer also mentions their ability to rap and their intention to keep it real with their partner. They express their vulnerability, referring to their partner as a source of emotional support and comparing them to a pill that eases their pain. Despite not having a physical symbol of commitment like an engagement ring, the singer reassures their partner that they don't want the relationship to end and enjoys their closeness.
The repetition of the phrase "don't break the trust" serves as a refrain, reinforcing the theme of trust as the foundation of their relationship. The lyrics also invite the listener to embrace the rockstar mentality, perhaps suggesting a desire to reclaim their confidence and assertiveness in the relationship.
