No one else can come close
If you ask me, yes I do say
You're the only one for me
You pick me up when I fall down (ooooh yeah)
And everything I do is for you
And even though at night you tell me lies
And every time you talk to me I hear
Sweet nothings in my ear
It's so clear,
Just say, say, say it again
Sweet nothings in my ear
It's so clear,
Just say, say, say it again
No one can take your place, no way
My heart belongs to you,
If you ask me for my hand and I'll say I do
Coz you're the only one for me
You pick me up when I fall down (ooooh yeah)
And everything I do is for you
And even though at night you tell me lies
And every time you talk to me I hear
Sweet nothings in my ear
It's so clear,
Just say, say, say it again
Sweet nothings in my ear
It's so clear,
Just say, say, say it again
When you don't talk to me
You don't say nothing
It sounds so good anyway
When you don't talk to me
You don't say nothing
It sounds so good anyway
When you don't talk to me
Just say, say, say it again
Just say, say, say it again
Sweet nothings in my ear
It's so clear,
Just say, say, say it again
Sweet nothings in my ear
It's so clear,
Just say, say, say it again
Sweet nothings in my ear
It's so clear,
Just say, say, say it again
Sweet nothings in my ear
It's so clear,
Just say, say, say it again
In Brandy's song "Sweet Nothings," the singer is in love with someone who they believe is the only one for them, and no one else can come close or take their place. Despite the fact that this person may lie to them at night, the singer finds comfort in the sweet nothings whispered in their ear. The sweet nothings or sweet talk act as an affirmation for the singer's love and reinforce the idea that this person is the only one for them. The repetition of the phrase "just say, say, say it again" underscores the importance of the sweet nothings to the singer.
The chorus is the most repeated part of the song, emphasizing the significance of these sweet nothings. The narrative of the song is about a relationship that is imperfect but still valued by the singer. This suggests that the singer is willing to overlook the imperfections and focus on the things that keep the relationship going, such as the way the other person makes them feel. The lines "you pick me up when I fall down" and "everything I do is for you" suggest the singer is the one with the most invested in the relationship, and they may go to great lengths to maintain it.
Overall, Brandy’s “Sweet Nothings” is a song about how sweet talk can help someone feel loved and valued in a relationship. The song also suggests that despite imperfections, love can persist as long as the partner feels they are cared for and appreciated.

I love this Brandy hate it when they try to package her as an R&B artist, a voice like hers transcends genres. Special is that woman.
