1. Brazil was a six-man progressive punk group based in Muncie, Indiana. Brazil's style was at the same time psychedelic and intense in nature, conjuring up delicious imagery of sinister sci-Fi scenery with perhaps a dash of post-modernist philosophy thrown in for extra flavor.
The band was originally called "London". When learning that London had been the name of the first incarnation of Motley Crue, they then changed name to Brazil, staying on a geographic theme (also inspired by from Terry Gilliam's 1985 sci-Fi movie of the same name). Their sci-Fi themes and imagery may also be attributed to this same inspiration.
Brazil was also (for unknown reasons) fond of using French phrases and lines in their lyrics. Jonathan Newby's vocals, which are reminiscent of At The Drive-In/The Mars Volta's Cedric Bixler-Zavala's, often seem to have an unexpected French accent. Tours supporting acts such as Coheed and Cambria, Sparta, MeWithoutYou, Say Anything, Rainier Maria and Forgive Durden solidify the band in the modern rock soundescape.
Brazil has released officially "Dasein" (EP-Fearless Records), "A Hostage and The Meaning of Life" (Fearless Records) and most recently 2006's "The Philosophy of Velocity" on Immortal Records.
The band plan to release a final "post-mortem" ep release of 3 new tracks, 4 reworked versions of older songs and a live track as a digital download this fall titled "Ere I Am J.H." This release will be the flagship release on Newby's homespun label Elefant & Haus.
The final lineup of the band was: Jonathan Newby (vocals, Moog synthesizer, original drummer), Eric Johnson and Aaron Smith (guitars), Nic Newby (keyboards), Phillip Williams (bass), and James Sefchek (drums). The band had at least 8 drummers over time, including Nater Kane and others who were pulled in for tour support.
2. Brazil was an emotive hardcore/punk band from Iowa City that included Matt Davis on vocals/guitars from The Vidablue and Ten Grand.
3. Brazil were a rock band from Leeds, UK active circa 1999-2002. The group released the six-track 'This Is Future Wave' E.P., including songs such as "Pornstar" and "Flatline", followed by the Eatitfightitfuckit E.P. featuring the tracks "School Daze", "Sister Volume", "Charmed" and "Razor Queen", both in 2001.
4. Brazil was a Darkwave/Synth Pop/New wave band from Sisak, active in Yugoslavia in the 80's.
Wrapped Around Your Finger
Brazil Lyrics

Caught between the scylla and charibdes
Hypnotized by you if I should linger
Staring at the ring around your finger
I have only come here seeking knowledge
Things they wouldn't teach me of in college
I can see the destiny you sold
I'll be wrapped around your finger
I'll be wrapped around your finger
Mephistopheles is not your name
But I know what you're up to just the same
I will listen hard to your tuition
And you will see it come to its fruition
I'll be wrapped around your finger
I'll be wrapped around your finger
Devil and the deep blue sea behind me
Vanish in the air you'll never find me
I will turn your face to alabaster
Then you will find your servant is your master
Oh, you'll be wrapped around my finger
You'll be wrapped around my finger
You'll be wrapped around my finger
The lyrics to Brazil's song Wrapped Around Your Finger are a complex and intriguing exploration of power dynamics and the nature of relationships. The song is full of allusions and metaphors that suggest a sense of manipulation and control, as well as a desire for knowledge and understanding.
The first verse describes the singer as a young apprentice, caught between two dangerous forces, Scylla and Charybdis. This is a reference to Greek mythology, in which Scylla and Charybdis were sea monsters that posed a deadly threat to sailors. The singer is, in a sense, hypnotized by their partner, unable to resist their allure and trapped by the power they hold over them.
The second verse suggests that the singer is seeking knowledge and understanding, perhaps in an attempt to gain some measure of control over the situation. They are aware of the destiny that their partner has sold them, but they are unable to escape the grip they hold over them. The final lines of the song suggest that the power dynamic has shifted, with the singer now in control and their partner wrapped around their finger.
Overall, the song is a complex exploration of power dynamics, desire, and control, told through a series of allusions and metaphors. It suggests that relationships are often defined by these dynamics, with one partner holding the power and the other struggling to gain some measure of control.

This song is good and they did try their best on this cover, but it was a bad choice for the band Brazil. I know the lead vocalist is trying to mimic Sting's vocals but change it up. This has to be my least favorite cover on the album mainly do to the fact that they didn't try to do anything with it.They just choice the song and covered it with no style added to it. That's the thing with covers ppl complain that they fuck up the song if they add their own flare to it but in actuality they some times do the song and artist justice by doing that. I have never heard of Brazil before this album and have been really scared to listen to their original work because this band kinda sucks. I listen to these albums to learn about new bands and this band is still unknown to me and probably will be forever.
