Critical reception
Lewis Corner of Digital Spy gave the song a positive review stating:
"What could be better than fighting fire with you?" she inquires over a combination of pumping beats and deep rhythmic bass that's got more than a whiff of the mid-1990s dance to it (Cream toilets? - Ed.). It's stylish, sure, and cool as a cucumber in the chiller cabinet at Shoreditch Tesco's, but perhaps a bit too laid-back and self-assured to join its bolshier chums - hey 'I Need Air', hiya 'Lights On'! - right at the top of the charts. 3/5 stars

Fighting Fire
Breakage Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
"Hold tight,
Hold tight",
And I'll hold on to you.
We'll take
Them on,
Them on
And I will win with you.
What could be better
What could be better
Than fighting fire with you?
What could be better
What could be better
Than fighting fire with you?
When you call
For me,
For me,
I'll be there for you.
When you hear
This song,
I'm singing it all for you.
Chorus:
What could be better
What could be better
Than fighting fire with you?
What could be better
What could be better
Than fighting fire with you?(you you you...)
Fire
Fire
Fighting fire
With
You(you you you you...)
Music
The lyrics to "Fighting Fire" by Breakage are a testament to the strength and resilience of human relationships. The song begins with the words "Hold tight, Hold tight," which suggest a need for stability and support in a difficult situation. The singer goes on to say that together, they will take on whatever challenges come their way, and that he will win with his partner by his side.
The chorus of the song repeats the question "What could be better than fighting fire with you?" This rhetorical question suggests that there is nothing better than having someone by your side in times of hardship. The phrase "fighting fire" has a double meaning here. On one hand, it refers to the literal act of fighting a fire, which represents a dangerous and difficult situation. On the other hand, it can be interpreted as a metaphor for overcoming challenges and adversity, and doing so with the help of loved ones.
In the second verse, the singer promises to be there for his partner when they call for him, and to dedicate this song to them as a symbol of his devotion. Through these lyrics, Breakage presents a powerful message of loyalty and dedication, and encourages listeners to value the importance of supportive relationships in their lives.

Woke up with this song stuck in my head (or technically the loadstar remix). 11 years later, still an absolute banger.

This genre debate is absolutely doing my head in. A genre is there to give you a rough guide as to what the composition and timbre is like, and I say rough because there are sub genres of sub genres and they overlap all over the place. Now you know you like the song, you don't need the guidance of a genre. Just forget it and listen. It's so damn good :)

I had a feeling that the Trance and Dubstep Genres might crossover one day, seeing as how their BPM's are practically the same. Looks like Breakage made the first move, and I have to say it sounds pretty lovely.
