Ashes of Eden
Breaking Benjamin Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Will the faithful be rewarded
When we come to the end
Will I miss the final warning
From the lie that I have lived
Is there anybody calling
I can see the soul within
And I am not worthy
I am not worthy of this

Are you with me after all
Why can't I hear you
Are you with me through it all
Then why can't I feel you
Stay with me, don't let me go
Because there's nothing left at all
Stay with me, don't let me go
Until the Ashes of Eden fall

Will the darkness fall upon me
When the air is growing thin
Will the light begin to pull me
To its everlasting will
I can hear the voices haunting
There is nothing left to fear
And I am still calling
I am still calling to you

Are you with me after all
Why can't I hear you
Are you with me through it all
Then why can't I feel you
Stay with me, don't let me go
Because there's nothing left at all
Stay with me, don't let me go
Until the Ashes of Eden fall

(Don't let go)
Why can't I hear you
Stay with me, don't let me go
Because there's nothing left at all
Stay with me, don't let me go
Until the Ashes of Eden fall
Heaven above me, take my hand
Shine until there's nothing left but you

Heaven above me, take my hand
Shine until there's nothing left but you

Overall Meaning

Breaking Benjamin's song "Ashes of Eden" is about the fear of losing oneself and not being able to find redemption. The song explores the idea that even when we are lost and cannot hear or feel the presence of our loved ones, we still hope that they are with us. It talks about the fear of the unknown and the anxiety of moving towards the end of life.

The lyrics pose multiple questions that imply the singer's doubts about what will happen to them once their life ends. The line "Will the faithful be rewarded when we come to the end?" suggests that the singer is not sure if his religious faith will be enough to secure his redemption. The song also implies that the singer has made some regretful choices, as he questions whether he will "miss the final warning from the lie that I have lived." The title, "Ashes of Eden," suggests that even though the singer is lost, he still believes that redemption is possible.

Overall, the song is an emotional plea for the support of loved ones during tough times. Even though the singer is lost and unsure of what is to come, he still clings onto hope and longs for the presence of those who mean the most to him.

I'm a 38 year old man who has lost his entire bloodline. In the last 12 years I've lost my father, mother, sister and daughter. I've been dealing with depression my entire life even before all that. This music...especially this band brought me hope when nothing else could . Its a reminder that there are people fighting their own inner wars on a daily basis. So maybe the best thing to do is listen to them . Cause they might not have anyone to listen . Lucky enough my childhood sweetheart and I were reunited . I now have two wonderful step sons and a beautiful loving wife that help me come back from the edge of darkness every day. The beautiful thing is that they don't even know what they have done for me. So I stay strong for them . Thanks to all for reading . And also to breaking benjamin for putting their thoughts out there for us to cling to.

Breaking Benjamin has played a big part in my young adulthood. Still to this day I can come back and listen. It allows me to remember days long gone but deeply cherished.
There might be a video to this song but when you close your eyes you vision yourself facing against the world.
