In the same year he released his first three singles (Henny in the Hamptons, Scottie Pippen, Twenties) that earned placements on editorial playlists and attracted a growing fanbase to the budding artist’s career.
In May of the following year, Bren released his debut project, Twenties, an eight-song tracklist that embodies the new era of youth coming into the scene. It merges Bren’s love of gospel, R&B, hip-hop, jazz, & pop all into one. It touches on the different emotions and experiences you encounter during the beginning of your twenties, while conveying an underlying theme of hope and self-love. It embraces the musical culture we are in now, while highlighting something completely new. This project is in its own lane, and attempts to redefine the mainstream sound and bring something new to your ear.

Show all my cards, then try to hide ′em
Makin' it hard, when it should be easy
I′m fallin' apart so I could give you the pieces
Can't turn off my mind and think ′bout somebody else
So obsessed with lovin′ you, I can't hold myself
Will you be there in the mornin′? Callin'?
Makin′ sure I'm good
And baby, if I fall, I wanna land right in your bed
So you could tell me in the mornin', "You trippin′
How could you be so in your head?"
Ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh
Ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh
Feelings in my face that I can′t ignore
Can't say these are things that I faced before
Don′t know what to do when I'm out with you
Love you so hard, it′s uncomfortable, yeah
Can't turn down my mind and think ′bout somebody else
So obsessed with lovin' you, I can't hold myself
Will you be there in the mornin′? Callin′?
Makin' sure I′m good
When I hit you in the evenin' feelin′ way too insecure
And baby, if I fall, I wanna land right in your bed
So you could tell me in the mornin', "You trippin′
How could you be so in your head?"
Ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh
Ooh, yeah
Ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh
Baby, if I fall, I wanna land right in your bed
So you could tell me in the mornin', you trippin'
How could you be so in your head?
Will you be there in the mornin′? Callin′?
Makin' sure I′m good
When I hit you in the evenin' feelin′ way too insecure
And baby, if I fall, I wanna land right in your bed
So you could tell me in the mornin', "You trippin′
How could you be so in your head?"
The lyrics of Bren Joy's song Insecure captures the feelings and thoughts of someone who is deeply in love but also struggles with insecurities. The opening lines convey the persona's indecisiveness and tendency to reveal his emotions but then retreats to hide them. The persona acknowledges that he makes things complicated when it should be easy, which could be interpreted as a projection of his inner fears and anxieties. He then reveals that he is falling apart and is ready to give everything to his partner, even if it means breaking down into pieces.
The next lines show the persona's obsession with the person he loves to the point where he can't stop thinking about them. He questions whether his partner will be there in the morning, making sure he is good. The chorus repeats the idea that the persona is feeling way too insecure in the evening and wants to fall into their partner's bed. The persona wants his partner to be there to tell him that he is tripping over his thoughts and emotions.
Overall, the song portrays the inner turmoil of someone struggling with vulnerability and falling deeply in love with someone. It highlights the importance of having a partner who understands and supports you through your insecurities and anxieties.
