The Mosaic Project works towards a peaceful future by uniting young children of diverse backgrounds, providing them with essential skills to thrive in an increasingly diverse society, and empowering them to strive for peace. As The Mosaic Project's Resident Rock Star, Dennen created an original musical curriculum for the program, which they released as an album called Children's Songs for Peace and a Better World, in 2003. It won a Children's Music Web 2004 Award and a Parent's Choice 2004 Approved Award.

Because You Are A Woman
Brett Dennen Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I thought I had something to prove
Instead I fled with my superstition
Because you are a woman
Now I was a poet since before I could speak
A man's emotions are what make him weak
I come to you more or less a humble man
And I find most of the time
I'm lost inside my own mind
I look all over, all over to find
It don't keep me satisfied
All the conquest that I construe
Fail miserably in front of you
Have you ever been loved by such a charismatic fool
And I'm a circle for your love
The self sin and struggle crowd the sidewalk
Parading pose with phones and paper cups
You walk like truth to a world of fiction
Because you are a woman
And I find most of the time
It's all inside my mind
I look all over, all over to find
It don't keep me satisfied, yeah
And I find most of the time
I miss the way your body coils round mine
Slope of your shoulders, the curve of your spine
Because you are a woman
I change my strings and pack my suitcase
I'm always leaving for some other place
But I return to you again and again
Because you are a woman
Because you are a woman
The song "Because You Are a Woman" by Brett Dennen talks about the singer's desire to be closer to the woman he loves, but at the same time, his self-doubt and insecurities that prevent him from achieving that closeness. The lyrics highlight the societal norms that dictate how men should behave and hold back their emotions that make them appear weak. Instead of being open and vulnerable, the singer decides to retreat into his mind and cling to his superstitions to protect himself. He also recognizes the futility of his conquests when they fail miserably in front of the woman he loves.
However, despite his struggles, he finds solace in the fact that he is loved by such an amazing woman. The song talks about how the woman's love brings him back to her again and again. The lyrics also touch on the difference between reality and fiction, which the woman embodies as she walks like truth to a world of fiction. The song is an honest portrayal of a man's internal conflict and his admiration for a woman's strength and grace.
