Hello, hello, baby
You called, I can't hear a thing
I have got no service
In the club, you see, see
Wha-wha-what did you say?
Oh, you're breaking up on me
Sorry, I cannot hear you
I'm kinda busy

K-kinda busy
K-kinda busy
Sorry, I cannot hear you
I'm kinda busy

Just a second
It's my favorite song they're gonna play
And I cannot text you with
A drink in my hand, eh
You shoulda made some plans with me
You knew that I was free
And now you won't stop calling me
I'm kinda busy

Stop callin', stop callin'
I don't wanna think any more
I left my head and heart on the dance floor
Stop callin', stop callin'
I don't wanna talk anymore
I got my head and my heart on the dance floor

Eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh
Stop telephonin' me
Eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh
I'm busy, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh
Stop telephonin' me
Eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh

Call all you want, but there's no one home
And you're not gonna reach my telephone
Out in the club, and I'm sippin' that bub
And you're not gonna reach my telephone

Call all you want, but there's no one home
And you're not gonna reach my telephone
Out in the club, and I'm sippin' that bub
And you're not gonna reach my telephone

Boy, the way you blowin' up my phone
Won't make me leave no faster
Put my coat on faster
Leave my girls no faster
I shoulda left my phone at home
'Cause this is a disaster
Callin' like a collector
Sorry, I cannot answer

Not that I don't like you
I'm just at a party
And I am sick and tired
Of my phone ringin'
Sometimes I feel like
I live in Grand Central Station
Tonight I'm not takin' no calls
'Cause I'll be dancin'

'Cause I'll be dancin'
'Cause I'll be dancin'
Tonight I'm not takin' no calls
'Cause I'll be dancin'

Stop callin', stop callin'
I don't wanna think any more
I left my head and my heart on the dance floor
Stop callin', stop callin'
I don't wanna talk any more
I left my head and my heart on the dance floor

Stop callin', stop callin'
I don't wanna think any more
I left my head and my heart on the dance floor
Stop callin', stop callin'
I don't wanna talk any more
I left my head and my heart on the dance floor

Eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh
Stop telephonin' me
Eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh
I'm busy, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh
Stop telephonin' me
Eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh

Can call all you want but there's no one home
And you're not gonna reach my telephone
'Cause I'm out in the club and I'm sippin' that bub
And you're not gonna reach my telephone

Call all you want but there's no one home
And you're not gonna reach my telephone
'Cause I'm out in the club and I'm sippin' that bub
And you're not gonna reach my telephone

My telephone
M-m-my telephone
'Cause I'm out in the club and I'm sippin' that bub
And you're not gonna reach my telephone

My telephone
M-m-my telephone
'Cause I'm out in the club and I'm sippin' that bub
And you're not gonna reach my telephone

Overall Meaning

The song "Telephone" by Britney Spears feat. Lady Gaga & Beyonce is a catchy pop song about a woman who is out partying with her friends and receiving multiple calls on her cell phone from a persistent man, but she is not interested in picking up the phone or dealing with him. The opening lines of the song set the scene for her busy night at the club, indicating that she is not able to answer the man's call due to her lack of service, noisy location, and being occupied with her own fun.

Throughout the song, she repeats the chorus "stop callin' me" multiple times, sending a clear message to the man that she is not interested in speaking with him at the moment. However, the man keeps calling and texting, and she starts to feel annoyed and frustrated, singing "sometimes I feel like I live in Grand Central Station."

The song's lyrics also showcase the woman's desire to live in the moment and enjoy her night out with her friends without any distractions from her phone. She mentions that she "left [her] head and heart on the dance floor" and does not want to "think anymore" or "talk anymore." Essentially, she is telling the man on the other end of the line to give it up and let her live her life, or at least let her enjoy the night.

Overall, "Telephone" is a fun and relatable song about the struggles of receiving phone calls and texts during a night out with friends. It highlights the importance of enjoying the present moment and living in the here-and-now, without stressing over missed calls and messages.

I knew it was iconic the day the song came out. I was a young teen back then but had been a massive Gaga fan since Just Dance (still am today and almost 30).

Ever since she released her debuts, I always knew there was something special about her. Then... the day I saw she had collabed with Beyoncé, that's when I officially knew Gaga "had made it!"

Back then, there were a lot of one hit wonders (don't even get me started about the 90s lol 😅), and if you didn't prove yourself as 'more' that was all you were. I was soooo happy for gaga when she released this.
Likewise with "Videophone" with Beyoncé..

I'll always be a Litttle Monster. LOVE Gaga!
