Broken Bells Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Why he ever notice it as sucking up?
Rise up and sound this state
That everything else in this world can be broken
When the scolding flow closes the distance
Up from the devil then seeping out
Your tiny vengeful life might pass through my mind
It's coming
Wait for it
Redawning
No contest
All of a sudden
Your Body and Soul
Will call a grave
You've been avoiding
This city
Your culture
Your modern
Day suffering
Is over
So what if
I love it
I can't help it
That's all
Several times in the glimpse of our intentions
I turned the stone and found a brand you light
I can form no more words as I cannot dare see no drama washing me over me
Will someone measure this moron now?
I'm back again in this one light town
I cut the tie and I don't have to rely on nothing no more
It's coming
Wait for it
Redawning
No contest
All of a sudden
Your Body and Soul
Will call a grave
You've been avoiding
This city
Your culture
Your modern
Day suffering
Is over
So what if
I love it
I can't help it
That's all
The Broken Bells' song Meyrin Fields speaks of cycles and transformation. The lyrics are filled with contradictions and shifts, just as the song itself transforms and breaks away from a conventional structure. In the first verse, we hear about cycles in nature as the lyrics describe going down to the ocean's depths and then rising up to sound a state. The lyrics create a sense of tension by pointing out how everything else in the world can be broken except this cycle. This could be interpreted as a metaphor for the circular nature of life, that everything happens in cycles and that we are powerless to change it. The second verse appears to shift focus to a more personal level, with the lyrics "Up from the devil then seeping out, your tiny vengeful life might pass through my mind, but I blink and it's over." This could be interpreted as a reminder that our lives are brief and often filled with negativity, but ultimately fleeting. The lyrics describe the feeling of someone being insignificant and fleeting, yet simultaneously linking everything together through cycles.
The chorus emphasizes this theme of transformation and cycles, with the repeated phrase "It's coming, wait for it, redawning, no contest." The sense of inevitability and transformation is palpable here, as though something inescapable is approaching. The chorus also includes the lines "All of a sudden, your body and soul will call a grave you've been avoiding." This could be interpreted as a stark reminder of our mortality and the importance of living in the present moment.
The third verse continues to emphasize transformation and change, with the lyrics "Several times in the glimpse of our intentions, I turned the stone and found a brand you light. I can form no more words as I cannot dare see no drama washing me over me." These lyrics suggest that even our intentions and actions can lead us down unexpected paths, and the result is often an epiphany or realization that we didn't anticipate.
Overall, Meyrin Fields is a song that speaks to the inevitability of cycles and transformation, reminding the listener of the importance of living in the present moment and embracing change.
