False Alarm
Bronx Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Dead footsteps, another outcast screaming alone
God help me, give me what you want
Give me what you need, I'll take it all
Stand fall, lost out, baby, yes I know
It's not a secret, a false alarm
Another front page
Another year of research stand still
Turn on the lights, baby, show me your scars
Salvation, give me audio give me visual overload
So slow, lost out, baby, yes I know
Yeah, everyone is suspect
Everyone deserts sometimes
Another loss, I'm feeling alone
It's not a secret a false alarm
It's not a secret, it's not a sad song
Another front page lie disguised to help me burn
God help us, false alarm
Another front page lie disguised to help me burn
God help us, false alarm
The lyrics of the Bronx’s song “False Alarm” talk about feeling lost, abandoned, and hopeless, like screaming in the wilderness with no response. The song starts by saying “I don't think I'm alive” which portrays the numbness and detachment that the singer is feeling. He feels like an outcast and senses that everyone around him has deserted him, leaving him feeling entirely alone. He calls out to God asking for help and begs for anything that will give him comfort or meaning. The phrase “give me what you want, give me what you need, I'll take it all” shows a desperate willingness to do anything to escape the despair that he’s feeling.
The song compares the singer’s situation to a “false alarm,” meaning that it’s not a real emergency, but rather something that seems urgent but proves to be incorrect or deceptive. In this case, the false alarm appears to be whatever gave the singer hope or meaning before, which eventually proved to be false. The phrase “another front page lie disguised to help me burn” suggests that the falsehood in question may be something society tells us to believe in, but only causes us pain and suffering. Despite this, the song still asks for salvation and help from God, leading the listener to believe that there may still be a glimmer of hope for the singer.

Confirmed for Rock Band 3.

@jkruxl It's not a very distinctive riff, but there are definitely some similarities. I think I like the Rye Coalition song more anyway.

If they are trying to go note for note with Rye Coalition's "Hot Strikes", The Bronx have succeeded. Rye made the song Hot Strikes ten years ago. Nice ape job.
@redherronrecords
