Paper or Plastic
Brooke Candy Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Why do all the good girls have to die
Living in a bad girl's paradise

Paper or plastic go spend
Your paper on plastic
Go buy a life that's fantastic cause
All you are is your assets
Paper or plastic do you want paper or plastic
You can't buy love without passion
So please don't do nothing drastic

Go live it up, they say age is a number
Living proof of a theory
They keep getting older and dumber
Ignorance is competence then go
Ahead just bargain it
Selling out not buying it take
It for a refund 10%

Why do all the good girls have to die
Na na na
Living in a bad girl's paradise, na na na
Halo's running there, halo's light it up
Feel the rush, now you're one of us
Halo's running there, halo's light it up
Feel the rush, now you're one of us

Paper or plastic go spend
Your paper on plastic
Go buy a life that's fantastic cause
All you are is your assets
Paper or plastic do you want paper or plastic
You can't buy love without passion
So please don't do nothing drastic

Time keeps on wasting but I'm too high to be
Wasted with all this yolo and rap shit
My heart is elastic

Living for the days, living for the night
Living for the chance if we get what's right
You tell me who the hell you think I am
Think I am, think I am, think I am
Think I am brooke Candy
Think I am, think I am, think I am
Think I am

Why do all the good girls have to die
Na na na
Living in a bad girl's paradise, na na na
Halo's running there, halo's light it up
Feel the rush, now you're one of us
Halo's running there, halo's light it up
Feel the rush, now you're one of us

One of us, one of us, one of us
Now you're one of us
One of us, one of us, one of us
Now you're one of us one of us, one of us

Halo's running there, halo's light it up
Feel the rush, now you're one of us

Halo's running there, halo's light it up
Feel the rush, now you're one of us

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Brooke Candy's song "Paper or Plastic" seem to be critiquing modern society's obsession with materialism. The idea presented is that everyone is living in a "bad girl's paradise," where the only things that matter are paper (money) and plastic (credit cards). The song references the phrase "paper or plastic" used at the checkout line of grocery stores, asking the listener if they want to spend their paper (money) on plastic (things).

The chorus repeats the question "Why do all the good girls have to die," suggesting that those who do not conform to society's expectations of materialism are seen as "bad" and eventually fade away. The concept of selling out is also mentioned, as the lyrics caution the listener to not "do nothing drastic" when it comes to pursuing wealth and status.

The song also touches on the idea of living in the moment, with the lyrics "time keeps on wasting but I'm too high to be wasted with all this yolo and rap shit." The use of the phrase "yolo" (you only live once) shows a disregard for the potential consequences of living in the moment, and possibly implies a desire to escape from the pressures of materialism.

Hoy estoy completamente rehabilitado.

¿Por qué todas las chicas buenas tienen que morir?

Believe it or not, I think I see the message here:
"Why do all the good girls have to die?"- It's hard to be a good girl in this society, because they often get taken advantage of.
"Living in a bad girl's paradise"- Because bad behavior is often rewarded, and "bad girls" are preferred, and get more attention, because they use their full potential, to challenge people who want to put women in boxes.
"Paper or plastic"- Paper is natural, and easy to tear apart, like good girls, and their personalities. Plastic is artificial, hard to break, and can do whatever, like bad girls, and THEIR personalities.
"Halos. Burning their halos. Light it up"- Eventually, good girls get fed up.
"Feel the rush"- You find your first "bad" act (burning your halo) exhilarating.
"Now you're one of us"- Leave the vulnerable "good girl" behind, and turn bad.

maybewise I like what yoh said, but being bad whatever her definition is of that isn't being strong or doing something that's easy and seems like the only way at the moment of being fed it. Being a good girl isn't just being weak, vulnerable and dumb which is what these wicked industry people want you to believe. Being good, is being smart, wise and not getting yourself out of enslavement without buring your innocents and becoming bad. I actually agree with everything you said as far as how Brook sees things, but she has it all twisted and leaves out many parts of being good.

slay me with this analysis

Remy Mafia I was literally thinking paper (money) and plastic (credit cards).. she literally said "all you are is your assets.. but I love this deeper look into it!

I've seen some of the other comments comparing her to other singers and I totally disagree. She has taken the time to put tons of detail into this video and her sound I really have not heard before. She really challenges culture on many songs and she does it pretty much bare all without being ridiculously sexual. The chastity underwear and everything in here, including the hair, was really well done.

Without being ridiculously sexual.... lmao her album is literally called “Sexorcism”. You should see the cover, it’s very nice 😉
