Sounds more like 80s new wave than 70s; it's clear that Roxy was totally ahead of the curve!

That's about right, a transition year for sure, from 1979 into 1980 and 1980's style music. It was
a great tune back in the day, with some air play, especially on more free-form, alt. rock stations. New wave was coming
up in the late 1970's and went full blast into 1980 and beyond til the very late 80's, IMHO. Grunge came in thereafter.

Bowie and Roxy invented the 80s back in the 70s. The generation that took the greatest influence from Bowie and Roxy (especially in the UK) came of age in the early 80s and provided MTV with a lot of its early hits and sound.

8 years ago I was sitting next to my partner and we had a pregnancy test, the radio was on and the very second she turned to me and said " I'm pregnant" this song started , all the emotions I felt, elation, fear, worry, happiness and apprehension , now every time I hear it it reminds me how lucky I am to have my wonderful son and also that moment in time, still as fresh as at the moment it happened..

The only songs I can think of that have that "disco/new romantic" combination sound would be, Duran Duran's "Planet Earth" and Spandau Ballet's "To cut a long story short." Both came out a couple of years later.

Back in the day (80's) when I used to DJ I heard the full extended version in Ptown from a DJ promo disk at tea dance. The full dance version was hard to get; beg borrow steal. Whenever I spun Angel Eyes the dance floor would fill. The Joey Negro remix is out there, worth a downloadThis track remains timeless, nice to see it's been uploaded in a number of places
