Formed as a solo side project from his Sunshine Coast band 'Pro Vita' - songwriter Connor Brooker created the moniker 'Bugs' after releasing a slate of self-produced bedroom EP's in 2014. Bugs started with an conversation between bassist Paolo Bruno and drummer Joab Quental, on the 2002 reveillon with the intention to make a band with influences of rock, cinema, psicodelism and literature. Paolo called cousin Denilton Falcão for playing guitar. On the spring of the same year, the band started to make shows in the city, with some recorded material. At the end of the year they released their first EP. In 2003 they returned to the studio to record their first album, 'Bugs' with 13 tracks, acclaimed by some critics as one of the best Brazilian indie albums of that year. In 2004 they played on the Porão do Rock Festival, one of the most important rock festivals in Brazil, and had received good critics. In the middle of this year drummer Joab left the band, being substituted by Automatics' drummer Augusto, and later Dead Funny Days' guitarist Dimetrius joined Bugs. Alone Again

I start to feel more self absorbed
Iʼm alone again, but it must be more that
As I trod along the track of life
I get tripped by fear, burn out my light
And Iʼm alone again, but it must be more than that
And I could loan a friend, but Iʼd still be feeling flat
On my phone pretend
Seven day weekend
Iʼm my own best friend
Cause Iʼm alone again
Every night at ten
I get lonely when
Iʼm alone again
And it sucks
Itʼs a puzzle piece and I must find
The part of me that I donʼt mind
Get a donor, lend something
That you just canʼt bye
But youʼre alone again
All these questions, asking why
Cause Iʼm alone again
On my phone pretend
Seven day weekend
Iʼm my own best friend
Cause Iʼm alone again
Every night at ten
I get lonely when
Iʼm alone again
Cause Iʼm alone again
On my phone pretend
Seven day weekend
Iʼm my own best friend
Cause Iʼm alone again
Every night at ten
I get lonely when
Iʼm alone again
Cause Iʼm alone again
Cause Iʼm alone again
Cause Iʼm alone again
Cause Iʼm alone again
And it sucks
The lyrics to Bugs's song "Alone Again" depict a sense of isolation, introspection, and a struggle with loneliness. The singer of the song is walking through the streets of their hometown, feeling increasingly self-absorbed and disconnected from others. They express the feeling of being alone, but also acknowledge that there must be something more to it than just physical solitude.
As the singer continues their journey through life, they encounter obstacles such as fear and uncertainty, which seem to extinguish their inner light. They mention that even if they were to have a friend by their side, they would still feel empty and unfulfilled. The chorus emphasizes their loneliness, pretending to be occupied on their phone, and feeling like every day is a never-ending weekend. They rely on themselves, becoming their own best friend, but still experience a deep sense of loneliness.
The second verse suggests that the singer is searching for a missing piece within themselves, something they don't mind about themselves. They allude to the idea of borrowing or lending something that can't be bought, symbolizing a desire for connection and understanding. They express frustration with constantly feeling alone and question the reasons behind their circumstances.
