Bulldog Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Más atrás podemos ver
Que la llevaba Carlos Gardel
Se la tocó a Maradona
Algo puede suceder
Mucha suerte para soportar
Tocar fondo está en los planes
Más abajo podes ver
Mucha gente caminando
Caminando hacia dónde?
The lyrics to 1999 by Bulldog are filled with references to famous Argentine personalities and a sense of uncertainty about the future. The opening line "1999 va cerrando el desafío" translates to "1999 is closing the challenge," hinting at a year of struggles and obstacles. The following lines reference both the famous tango singer, Carlos Gardel, and the soccer legend, Maradona, suggesting that even those who seem untouchable can fall. The repetition of "algo puede suceder" or "something can happen" adds to the tension and anticipation of what's to come.
The middle section of the lyrics shifts to a more introspective tone, with lines like "muchas suerte para soportar" or "lots of luck to endure." The mention of "tocar fondo" or "hitting rock bottom" suggests that the challenges referenced earlier may have already occurred. The final lines "versiones grises de días de sol, mucha gente caminando, caminando hacia donde?" translate to "gray versions of sunny days, lots of people walking, walking towards where?" which further portrays the uncertainty and lack of direction that may have characterized the year of 1999.
