The Divide
BulletProof Messenger Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
It's close to becoming a mile wide
If you have something to say
Say it now or I'm walking away
I can see that you're taking the bait
But I'm done with you
And I am sick of your games
I've got a point to make
I'm a sucker for you
When you're in that dress
So you manipulate
We're getting old but act 21
Getting tossed from the bar and having fun
Another chance we could settle up
Step right to the edge and we can
Cross now the divide
Between you and me
It's close to becoming a mile wide
Take all that you need
And leave me to bear the weight
As I save us both tonight
It's a modern charade
Living fast in a digital age
Be quick or you may miss the days
When the people went outside
And they were not afraid
Dead soon but we're living young
Maybe now we can finally have some fun
Getting close to oblivion
I enjoyed the ride but now just
Say, say it to me
Say that were ready to die for
All of our mistakes
Play, play it again
The game where we all pretend
That we'll live forever
Cross now the divide
Between you and me
It's close to becoming a mile wide
Take all that you need
And leave me to bear the weight
As I save us both tonight
Live forever...
Live forever...
Cross now the divide
Between you and me
It's close to becoming a mile wide
Take all that you need
And leave me to bear the weight
As I save us both tonight
Cross now the divide
Say that we're ready to die for
All of our mistakes
Take all that you need
The game where we all pretend
That we'll live forever
The lyrics of BulletProof Messenger's song "The Divide" convey a sense of tension and conflict within a relationship, possibly between two individuals who are at a breaking point. The repeated refrain of "Cross now the divide" suggests a literal and metaphorical separation that is growing wider and harder to bridge with each passing moment. The singer seems to be urging the other person to speak their truth or make a decision before it's too late, emphasizing the urgency of the situation.
The mention of manipulation and games being played in the relationship hints at a lack of honesty and genuine connection between the two parties. The singer is fed up with the games and deception, wanting to make a point and confront the issues at hand. The reference to being a "sucker" for the other person in a certain guise further highlights the toxic dynamic that exists between them, with one party feeling drawn in despite knowing better.
As the lyrics delve into themes of living fast in a modern, digital age, there is a sense of nihilism and recklessness in the air. The characters in the song seem to be living on the edge, engaging in risky behavior and pushing boundaries without much regard for the consequences. The imagery of getting "tossed from the bar and having fun" paints a picture of fleeting pleasures and a disregard for the future.
The closing lines of the song bring a sense of resignation and acceptance of the fleeting nature of life and relationships. The idea of being ready to "die for all of our mistakes" suggests a willingness to confront the consequences of their actions, even if it means facing the ultimate price. The repeated plea to "live forever" underscores a desire for immortality or timelessness, but also serves as a reminder of the impermanence of life and the need to confront reality before it's too late. The overall tone of the song is one of urgency, regret, and a longing for genuine connection in the face of impending separation.

I can see that you're taking the bait
I know you're falling for it
But I'm done with you
I'm finished with this relationship

When you're in that dress
Your appearance is captivating
So you manipulate

We're getting old but act 21
We're aging but still behaving like we're young

Being kicked out of the bar but enjoying ourselves
Another chance we could settle up
We have an opportunity to reconcile
Step right to the edge and we can

Step into the conflict between us
Between you and me
Involving just us two
Take all that you need
Take what is necessary for you
And leave me to bear the weight
Let me handle the burden alone
As I save us both tonight
By making a sacrifice to help us both
It's a modern charade
Today's society is full of pretense
Living fast in a digital age
Moving quickly in the era of technology
Be quick or you may miss the days
Act fast or you'll miss the simpler times
When the people went outside
When individuals used to spend time outdoors
And they were not afraid
And they were unafraid
Dead soon but we're living young
We'll die eventually but we live as if we're young
Maybe now we can finally have some fun
Perhaps now we can enjoy ourselves
Getting close to oblivion
Approaching destruction or disregard
I enjoyed the ride but now just
I liked the journey but now only...
Say, say it to me
Express it clearly to me
Say that were ready to die for
Confirm that we're willing to sacrifice for
All of our mistakes
Every error we've made
Play, play it again
Repeat the performance
The game where we all pretend
The act where we all deceive ourselves
That we'll live forever
That we'll never die
Live forever...
Exist eternally...
Cross now the divide
Step into the conflict between us
Between you and me
Involving just us two
Take all that you need
Take what is necessary for you
And leave me to bear the weight
Let me handle the burden alone
As I save us both tonight
By making a sacrifice to help us both
Live forever...
Exist eternally...
Live forever...
Exist eternally...
Cross now the divide
Step into the conflict between us
Between you and me
Involving just us two
Take all that you need
Take what is necessary for you
And leave me to bear the weight
Let me handle the burden alone
As I save us both tonight
By making a sacrifice to help us both
Cross now the divide
Step into the conflict between us
Say that we're ready to die for
Declare that we are prepared to sacrifice for
All of our mistakes
Every error we've made
Take all that you need
Take what is necessary for you
The game where we all pretend
The act where we all deceive ourselves
That we'll live forever
That we'll never die

I was telling someone the other day that it is such a sad shame how underated you guys are. BPM deserves a ton of publicity, unlike some of the mainstream artists who were just flukes.
Dragon Sniper
Definitely, never thought of it like that!
