Born in Brøndby Strand, Denmark, on 20 June 1983, he grew up singing in a local choir. His pop career took off after he had toured as a backing vocalist for Danish hip hop act Outlandish and other Danish artists.

In 2003, he released his debut single, "Burhan G", and the following year his debut album, Playground. He won the Best New Act award at the Danish Music Awards. His second album, 2007's Breakout, was preceded by the lead single "Who Is He". Both albums were co-produced by Maximum Risk.

In 2008, Burhan G released his first Danish-language single, "Kun dig", and the following year "Jeg vil ha' dig for mig selv", both included on hit debut Danish-language album, Burhan G, which was released in 2010, written and produced by Burhan himself along with collaborators including Rasmus Seebach and Nexus. Further singles included duets with leading Danish artists, "Mest Ondt" featuring Medina and "Tættere på himlen" featuring Nik & Jay.
