On A Roll
Burrito Deluxe Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
We fit just like a glove and only love was in fashion
Whatever happened to the girl I knew, the one who knew me
And though her eyes were blue, she was too
And hard to see then
One day it all came down
Everything got turned around
Feeling whole and I'm feeling holy
And now I'm in control
I'm good as gold and on a roll again
Whatever happened to the lonely fool, the one who lost it
He thought he was smart, but his heart was what it cost him
And though it all fell through
I'm right as rain, I'm good as new
But now I'm on a roll
Feeling whole and I'm feeling holy
And now I'm in control
I'm good as gold and on a roll again
Now the sun comes up without her
And pretty soon I know I won't even think about her, about her
But now I'm on a roll
Feeling whole and I'm feeling holy
And now I'm in control
I'm good as gold and on a roll again
The lyrics to Burrito Deluxe's song "On A Roll" speak to the idea of moving past heartbreak and finding oneself again. The first verse references a previous relationship where everything seemed perfect and love was in fashion, but it all came crashing down. The singer longs for the girl he used to know, who seemed difficult to understand at the time.
The second verse speaks to the aftermath of the breakup, where the singer has become a "lonely fool" who lost everything. Despite this loss, he is able to move on and embrace life again, feeling "whole" and "holy." The chorus repeats the idea of being back in control and feeling "good as gold" and "on a roll again."
The final lines of the song suggest a sense of closure, where the sun comes up without her and the singer can look forward to a life without dwelling on the past.
Overall, "On A Roll" is a hopeful song about moving past heartbreak and rediscovering joy in life.

I was lucky enough to be at the recording of the group's video in Nashville and it was wonderful. The band was great, the guys are so gracious and such amazing musicians. I've known Carlton for more years than I like to admit (he was my guitar teacher) and remains a good friend.

Loved sneaky pete's work with art clokey on gumby......most people dont know that pete was a famous animator in addition to being a world class steel player
David Galinsky
The band was originally formed and named as an homage to Pete and his days with the FBB's. Garth was a special guest on the first album and later became a permanent member of the band although he was only on the one record he did tour with the band.
