With this world so cold?
Just forgotten souls
We are on our own
The sin of sins is to scorch the earth
Till there is nothing left
There is nothing left
Swallow us all
Reset the switch
Return to old
Blackhole
Swallow us all
Reset the switch
Return to old
Restart the age
Ignite the fire
Our time erased
Is all that′s left
In search of this
Free from the pain
We can aspire
We cannot take
This constant ache
Can we return from this?
We've turned the sea from the land
Arrogance of man
Believing it′s our given right
We're taking all that we can
Bodies piled high to fuel the fires
Creation of destruction that never tires
Blackhole
Swallow us all
Reset the switch
Return to old
Blackhole
Swallow us all
Reset the switch
Return to old
Restart the age
Ignite the fire
Our time erased
Is all that's left
In search of this
Free from the pain
We can aspire
We cannot take
This constant ache
Can we return from this?
Take it back
Take it back
Take it all back
To the place
The time and the moment
Can we make
Can we make
Can we make it right?
Build it from the ground
And let us shine
Our souls aligned
Let us shine
Our souls aligned
Restart the age
Ignite the fire
Our time erased
Is all that′s left
In search of this
Free from the pain
We can aspire
We cannot take
This constant ache
Can we return?
The lyrics of Bury Tomorrow's "The Age" express a strong sense of disillusionment and despair about the state of the world. The opening lines suggest a feeling of isolation and abandonment, as the singer questions how anyone can be content in a cold, forgotten world. The sin of scorching the earth is presented as a major transgression, with the implication being that humanity is already past the point of no return when it comes to environmental destruction. The repeated refrain of "Blackhole, swallow us all, reset the switch, return to old" creates a sense of helplessness and inevitability - the world is spiraling downward and there's no way to stop it.
Despite the overwhelming sense of doom, there are glimmers of hope in the song's lyrics as the singer calls for a restart to the age, an ignition of fire that will erase the damage that's been done. He imagines a future where humanity is "free from the pain," able to "aspire" and build something new from the ground up. The final lines of the song repeat the refrain of "restart the age" but with a slightly different twist - this time, the singer calls for humanity to "make it right," suggesting that even in the face of global turmoil, it's still possible to change course and create a better future.
Overall, "The Age" is a powerful meditation on humanity's impact on the world and the potential for change. Through its lyrics, the song encourages listeners to think deeply about the consequences of their actions and to aspire to something better.

Bury Tomorrow really is the best at what they do. They're the most consistent band out there. I've never heard anyone talk badly about them. This record is already sounding like a masterpiece.

Compared to the older songs this sounds so much cleaner. They found the perfect combination of clean vocals and screaming. I love how they evolved. Probably one of the best albums of the past 2 years. I love it

Architects and Bury Tomorrow are on a whole other level of song writing. Their lyrics are always heavy with symbolism and real life.

Just found this band today and I’m so happy I found them. I found them off of a gif too which was funny. These guys are amazing. I know I’m late to the game but it’s refreshing to find something new and actually enjoy it

This sounds absolutely incredible :D Probably one of the most melodic songs I've heard by Bury Tomorrow, the clean chorus section sounds very Killswitch Engage-ish ;) <3 \m/
