Illusion
Bustle And Out Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Let's pretend I'm the new lover,
I'm a stranger not yet discovered,
I'm the voice and the solution
Nine more goals and I'm an illusion

Illusion illusion
Illusion illusion
So let's pretend they mean something
I'm still under their skin they're still wearing me in
Under tongue a new language to master,
Closing in on the wall now, faster and faster.

Illusion illusion
Illusion illusion

A heart is what a heart is
It won't forget where it came from
And when I walked down the line
I'm walking with you
I give what I can give
Enough should be enough
And at the end of the line I know
I'll still be with you

Don't ever mind the current tonight
It's swim or sink
And I know what you think
But did you know when you're not in the crowd
I think I've gone blind
Every time I blame

Illusion illusion (every time)
Illusion illusion (illusion)
Illusion illusion (oh)

A heart is what a heart is
It won't forget where it came from
And when I walked down the line
I'm walking with you
I give what I can give
Enough should be enough
And at the end of the line I know
I'll still be with you

Illusion illusion (Illusion illusion)
Illusion illusion
A heart is what a, heart is what a, heart is what a
Oh, Illusion illusion
Heart is what a heart is
Illusion, illusion

A heart is what a, heart is what a, heart is what a
Uhh, oh oh, uhh, oh oh

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Bustle And Out's song "Illusion" delve into themes of identity, deception, and the complexities of relationships. The song begins by suggesting a game of pretending, where the singer assumes the role of a new lover, someone unknown and mysterious. They claim to be the solution and the voice, and by accomplishing nine more goals, they become an illusion. This can be interpreted as a metaphor for the idea of constructing a façade or presenting oneself in a certain way to gain attention or admiration.

The repetition of the word "illusion" throughout the song emphasizes the concept of something being unreal or deceptive. It hints at the idea that those involved in the narrative, whether the singer or their partner, are aware that their actions and roles may not be genuine. They acknowledge that their actions, language, and closeness are all part of a constructed illusion, perhaps to create a desired effect or manipulate others.

The chorus continues to explore the theme of pretending and maintaining the illusion. It suggests that despite the charade, the hearts involved will not forget their true origins. The metaphor of walking down the line and giving what can be given implies a commitment to the relationship, but also a recognition that there are limits to what can be offered. Despite these limitations, the singer asserts that they will still be with their partner at the end of the line, suggesting a sense of loyalty and enduring connection.

The bridge of the song introduces a contrasting perspective. It mentions the current, implying external pressures or influences, and urges the listener not to mind it. This could be interpreted as a call to disregard societal expectations or judgments. The singer notes that when they are not in the crowd, they feel blind, possibly suggesting that without an audience, their constructed illusion loses its power. Every time they place blame on the crowd, they admit that it is an illusion, highlighting the deceptive nature of their actions.

In conclusion, "Illusion" by Bustle And Out explores the idea of assuming different identities, playing roles, and constructing illusions, all within the context of relationships. It reflects the complexity of human emotions, suggesting that while there may be deception and pretense, genuine connections and loyalty can still exist. The lyrics encourage listeners to question the expectations placed on them and to be mindful of the illusions they create or fall victim to.

Thank you for your quick reply.

Im having trouble figuring out how to cut and make a dress look and lay correctly when each layer (their are 5 ) has different volume or widths. It usually baffles me when cutting from the sides while grading it to a point on the train area.
Is it best to put the dress on a mannequin or cut the layers while hanging?
I had to cut about 6.5” off the front so Im trying to grade it nicely towards the back area of the train.

I hope you dont mind answering another question for me. I have another dress thats has a deep v to the waist line and its gapping in the front.
Is it ok to put a dart in the front and hide it with lace or should i try to take it in at the shoulder point?
Becky

Thank

Thanks so much! Two days before my daughter's wedding I realized her dress didn't come with a bustle! It's an illusion gown, too. I was able to do the bustle using your instructions, even though I've never done one before.

Nice! ❤❤ Please share this on social media! It means the world to me. ❤❤

This is exactly what I was looking for. Even though I didn’t know all the lingo, you explained it all very well, I felt confident enough to do the job I was asked to do 3 days before a friends wedding. God bless you for sharing your knowledge!

Thank you SO MUCH for this video. I was "vountold" to alter my SIL's wedding dress and had three weeks to do so! It was seven layers, 4 of which were tulle, and this video helped SO MUCH with figuring out how to bustle it. Painting the hardware is genius! You can't see them in any of the photos, and I'm even trying to look for them!

It was a mermaid dress so the bustling was difficult for me to wrap my brain around. I ended up doing a French bustle for the satin and organza layers and an American bustle for the outer tulle layers. It wasn't the prettiest and I'm still not 100% pleased with it, but no one tripped on it or ripped it!

THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Your videos are so informative. I love how you show different techniques and your explanation of why one is more preferable than another. I'm an amatuer sewer who learned to sew watching my mother as a child and now have the mamoth task of sewing my step daughter her wedding dress. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge.

Working on a gown requiring a similar set of bustles. This video was so helpful, especially the snap technique! Thank you!

I appreciate your knowledge and sharing these tips! For me, many of these topics help reaffirm how I approach a gown and how I strive to improve my seamstress skills. Thank you!

@debm6507

I just finished bustling a gown almost exactly like the one you are working on. I love your idea of using the snaps. I will go and add them before my bride picks up her dress tomorrow!
