Your Spirit
Byron Cage Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Those predestinate he also called
And to whom he called he justified
And to whom he justified, he glorified
So what do we say to all these things:
If God be for us then who can be against us?
If God be for us then who can be against us?
If God be for me than who can be against me?
In spite of my failures I've still been called
And because of Calvary
I've been justified
And when it's all over he promised to glorify
So what do we say to all of these things?
This is what we say::
If God be for us then who can be against us?
If God be for us then who can be against us?
If God be for me than who can be against me?

Ohhh! Now don't be afraid of the terror by night
Nor of the arrow that flies through the day
But God has given angels charge over you
And with that same trial he has made a way
He's made a way:
If God be for us then who can be against us?
If God be for us then who can be against us?
If God be for me than who can be against me?

If God be for us then who can be against us?

If God be for us then who can be against us?
If God be for me than who can be against me?

Overall Meaning

Byron Cage's "Your Spirit" is a powerful and uplifting song that reminds us of the unyielding and omnipresent love of God. The opening lines of the song are deeply rooted in the Christian belief of predestination: "Those predestinate he also called, and to whom he called, he justified, and to whom he justified, he glorified." This verse is a reference to the biblical text from Romans 8:30, which reads, "Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified."

Cage goes on to reflect on the impact of Calvary on his own journey, using his failures as a testament to his calling: "In spite of my failures I've still been called, and because of Calvary, I've been justified, and when it's all over he promised to glorify." This verse is a reminder that God's grace and love extend far beyond our human shortcomings and that we should trust in His divine plan for our lives.
