The first person the officer points at is his own partner who is standing there confused- cause there were no shots fired behind her. He pointed his gun at her cause he wasn't sure of where the shots were coming from and just assumed it was his own patrol vehicle. If you're downrange, God forbid, you're gonna hear a lot more than just the light tink of an acorn. The female officer would've obviously heard the shots, ID'd the shooter and and returned fire FIRST. She would've fired WAAAYY before him.

What was really crazy to me was how the second officer immediately drew her weapon and started opening fire without knowing who or what she was shooting at, just based on what the other cop said. Did she believe that the suspect in the car was shooting at them? How could he have gotten out of his cuffs and gotten a hold of a weapon? Why didn't she hear a gunshot? Did she think a second shooter had showed up? Where were they? All questions I think she should have asked before randomly shooting.

I recently honorably retired from law enforcement in 2021 after a 28-year career in patrol. I was a deputy sheriff/patrol officer/supervisor/field training officer/academy instructor. I watched the whole uncut, uncensored video. This is nothing but incompetence from the point of contacting the suspect to the end of the shootout. It doesn't matter if he's West Point, a military officer, or SF. Law enforcement is a completely different animal. And yes, I have had lots of former military who were extremely competent in their branch of service and had amazing resumes but could not function in civilian law enforcement.

So my thoughts since you asked is that I find it very worrisome that his boss or the county didn’t try to file anything against him he should be put behind bars for literally shooting an unarmed person with handcuffs and that was already checked thoroughly to have no weapon come on it’s pretty obvious if somebody has a gun on them he’s not gonna pull it out of his fucking magical asshole But since the officers boss says since it was a high risk, it was OK for them to shoot and almost literally kill somebody that was already deemed to be not a threat and there’s no action going against the officer that got attacked by an acorn, but it’s OK that he shoots an unloads his whole first clip and second into a patrol vehicle And that makes sense to not charge him with any neglection of his service pistol I mean those bullets could’ve went through the windows and hit a pedestrian on the other side. They were obviously shooting through the glass and you’re telling me that it’s OK. This is insane. Find it to be so one-sided just because this person was deemed the threat and is put in a situation where obviously put himself in, but here’s the fact, the officers clearly and thoroughly checked him for any weapons, especially again why would any of that happen if clearly, no glass was broken no big bang was heard you know when a gunshot goes off there was no sound of it but just because this person is not an officer that it’s OK for them to classify him as a major threat and it’s OK for them to literally almost kill someone just as equal as that officer to go home to their family and you’re telling me that it’s OK that’s complete bullshit officers need to be held just as responsible as the next person that doesn’t have a badge. Any Calibre .45 or below, with the right silencer, can be whisper quiet nowadays, even if you're not using subsonic ammunition. Even, .223, the calibre an ar15 is usually chambered in can be whisper quiet

I get ya'all calling the cop dumb... but isn't this how PTSD looks like? I remember when I was overstressed and anxious and I got spooked by my own shadow or my own hair brushing my neck. Sometimes even into an anxiety attack. So, yeah, I understant that the cop shouldn't be out there doing this kind of a job, but also, is it fair just to call him an idiot and brush away the mental tool of being a cop in your country?

Anyone with PTSD should not put themselves in a stressful job. “He boss, I think I’m getting overly stressed and may have anxiety or PTSD, can I be on desk duty until I’m reevaluated?” Also, if a police department is actively hiring combat veterans, they’re already setting themselves up for a high possibility of mistake.

I agree that people with PTSD or other mental health issues shouldn't work as police officers, but then I imagine US would have to fire majority of their forces. (Which, bro, is so fucking sad.) Anyhow, I just felt uncomfortable when all that situation was reduced to was "dumb cop got scared by an acorn", like it's something laughable. "Look at the idiot they hired!" Rather than taking an opportunity to actually talk about mental health care and police work.
