You can jive
Having the time of your life
See that girl
Watch that scene
Dig in the dancing queen
Friday night and the lights are low
Where they play the right music
Getting in the swing
You come to look for a king
Anybody could be that guy
Night is young and the music's high
With a bit of rock music
Everything is fine
You're in the mood for a dance
And when you get the chance
You are the dancing queen
Young and sweet
Only seventeen
Dancing queen
Feel the beat from the tambourine
You can dance
You can jive
Having the time of your life
See that girl
Watch that scene
Dig in the dancing queen
You're a teaser, you turn 'em on
Leave 'em burning and then you're gone
Looking out for another
Anyone will do
You're in the mood for a dance
And when you get the chance
You are the dancing queen
Young and sweet
Only seventeen
Dancing queen
Feel the beat from the tambourine
You can dance
You can jive
Having the time of your life
See that girl
Watch that scene
Dig in the dancing queen
The lyrics to C.W. Stoneking's song "Dancing Queen" depict a vibrant and energetic atmosphere where people are enjoying themselves through music and dancing. The first couple of lines emphasize the freedom and pleasure that comes with dancing, suggesting that dancing allows individuals to express themselves and have a great time. The phrase "having the time of your life" signifies the joy and happiness that can be experienced on the dance floor.
The lyrics then shift to describe a Friday night scene, where people are searching for the perfect place to have a good time. The mention of "the right music" suggests that the atmosphere is important, indicating that the music being played sets the mood for the night. The lyrics imply that on such nights, people come out hoping to find someone special, possibly a romantic interest or a dance partner, referred to as a "king" in the song.
The song further emphasizes the idea that anyone can be the person you're looking for on a night like this, as the night is young and possibilities are endless. The high energy of the music, specifically rock music, elevates the mood and makes everything feel wonderful. The lyrics convey a sense of liberation and the desire to dance whenever the opportunity arises.
The chorus introduces the term "dancing queen" to describe the singer of the song. It depicts a young and sweet woman who is only seventeen, symbolizing youth and vitality. The tambourine is mentioned, emphasizing the rhythmic component of the music and adding to the overall enjoyment and excitement of the dance floor.
The lyrics then hint at the singer's attractive allure, describing her as a teaser who captivates those around her. However, there is an element of transience, as she is depicted as leaving them burning, suggesting that she may not commit or stay for long. The lyrics imply that the singer is open to dancing with anyone and is always in the mood for a dance, grabbing the opportunity whenever it arises.
Overall, "Dancing Queen" portrays a lively and exhilarating atmosphere where people come together to dance and have a great time. It celebrates the youthful spirit and the joyous escape that music and dancing can provide.
