Talk
Cafuné Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Everyday, everyday, oh
I see different things (I see different things fade away)
Who knows what I say (for myself, for someone else)
Fade away everyday is a new chance to make something for myself
For someone else, for someone else (for myself, for someone else)

I could be better after all this time
I would let them know when disaster strikes
I should let you know (let them know when disaster strikes)
Even more, even more now
Disaster strikes, I should let you know
Even more, even more now

The flooded block, when I went to find someone to talk to
I never thought, I'd lose sight and mess my mind up too

I should be better after all this time
I would let them know when disaster strikes
I should let you know even more, even more now
Even more, even more, now

(More now)
(More now)

Got stuck when I went to find
Someone to talk to

Overall Meaning

In Cafuné's song "Talk", the lyrics express an ongoing existential dilemma of seeking to make something out of life for oneself. The artist highlights the fleetingness of life and the need to make everyday count by making something for oneself or even for someone else. The repetition of "everyday, everyday" emphasizes the idea of daily chances and opportunities that will fade away if not fully utilized. The line "who knows what I say" suggests that the artist believes that everyone has their own individual purpose, and what they do with their life should not be limited to societal expectations.

The second verse of the song takes on a different tone that emphasizes the need for communication and being open with others. Here, Cafuné highlights the importance of sharing our thoughts and feelings with the people we care about when we are faced with difficult times. The line "when disaster strikes, I should let you know" emphasizes the need to seek solace from those closest to us during hard times. The repetition of "even more, even more now" underscores the urgency and necessity of sharing our feelings with loved ones as much as possible.

In conclusion, Cafuné's song "Talk" reflects on the human struggle to make something meaningful out of life while being transparent and vulnerable with the people closest to us.

Lovely sound (and video).
I'm Brazilian. Cafuné is a Brazilian Portuguese word: it basically means "the act of caressing one's head hair" (usually the hair of a beloved person). But you guys apparently are from Brooklin, USA, so now I'm curious about how you came up with this name. Maybe because your songs caress our ears and souls? (: Nice song, by the way. A promising duo. I read somewhere that you've been on the road since 2014, this explains how well both the song and video were done: you guys are pros. ^_^ Best wishes. <3

While researching, I discovered that it is actually a tribute to Brazil: The independent New York production duo has been on the road since 2014, and consists of Sedona Schat (vocals, guitar) and Noah Yoo (bass, sampler). The name, a word so common in Brazil, is highly revered by the duo: "The coolest thing about it is that it's such an emotionally intelligent culture that they have a word for this gesture [running your fingers through a loved one's hair]," said the vocalist in an interview.
