Cairo Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Take me home
For I shall like to be alone
You're not who you claim
It's making me insane
It's making me insane
Oh he was hurt
Then it was on
Nobody won, nobody won
No one won
Monique says
Take me home
The leave on your own
Trying not to cry
Drove to the Westside
Drove to the Westside
The song "Say" by Cairo tells the story of a tumultuous relationship from the perspective of the singer, Monique. The lyrics convey her desire to be alone and her realization that the person she is involved with is not who they claim to be, causing her to feel insane. The line "Oh he was hurt, spat on her shirt, then it was on, nobody won" implies that their relationship is filled with conflict and neither party comes out victorious. Monique then pleads to be taken home, wanting to leave the situation on her own terms and trying to hold back tears as she drives to the Westside.
