In Your Hands
Candlelight Red Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I’ll never be that person that you used to know
No good fuck up and I am good for nothing else
And I was wrong, and know this will be just a failure
You were right, you were right, always right
And my, my heart in your hand
Right where you left it
Right where you left it
You think you’ve won just because you ran away
It shows me how you can be a coward
And I’ll never leave up to the bar that you have set
But you could not dance to your own rings if you had to
You were right, you were right, always right
And my, my heart in your hand
Right where you left it
My heart in your hand
Right where you left it
What did you think you would gain with it?
What did you think you would gain with it?
Am I just left to pain, since you’ve taken everything from me
You were right, you were right, always right
And my, my heart in your hand
Right where you left it
My heart in your hand
Right where you left it
What did you think you would gain with it?
What did you think you would gain with it?
Am I just left to pain, since you’ve taken everything from me
Everything from me, everything from me.
The lyrics to "In Your Hands" by Candlelight Red deal with feelings of failure and inadequacy, as well as the aftermath of a relationship gone wrong. The singer admits to being a "good fuck up" and not living up to the expectations of their former partner. However, they also express frustration with their ex for running away and leaving them in pain. The repeated line "you were right, you were right, always right" suggests that the singer feels belittled and overwhelmed by their ex's perceived perfection.
The chorus, "my heart in your hand, right where you left it," adds another layer to the emotional complexity of the song. On one hand, it could be interpreted as a symbol of the singer's vulnerability and woundedness, as if they have given their heart to their ex and been left heartbroken. On the other hand, it could be seen as a challenge to the ex to take responsibility for their actions and make amends, since they still hold the singer's heart in their hands.
Overall, "In Your Hands" paints a picture of a complicated relationship dynamic, with both parties struggling to cope with feelings of disappointment, resentment, and longing. The lyrics are raw and honest, conveying a sense of emotional turmoil that many listeners may be able to relate to.
