Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Candy Dulfer's song "Saxuality" exalt the transformative and uplifting power of music, specifically, the saxophone. The catchy repetition of "everybody needs a little S.A.X." emphasizes the universality of the need to feel a connection and to be uplifted by music. The saxophone, in particular, is extolled as being essential to our emotional wellbeing, as the singer proclaims "I don't live without it, I can't help a thing about it." The "nanana"s that interject the song represent the playful and carefree way that music can enter our lives and take us away from our worries. The song title itself, "Saxuality," illustrates how the saxophone is an embodiment of sensuality that can be expressed through sound.

When examined more deeply, the lyrics are also a declaration of love for the saxophone and its unique ability to touch the soul like no other instrument can. It is a testament to the level of pure joy and emotion that can be engendered when the saxophone is played with skill and passion. By celebrating the saxophone, Candy Dulfer is not only expressing her love for it but also encouraging everyone to embrace and celebrate the things that make them feel most alive.

Awesome and beautiful. Nice to see a woman in the fold, we need more female performers like this. She comes from great musical stock, so no doubt where she got the influences from. And to pick funky stuff on top of it is crazy. You'd think she'd be more Kenny G orsome dreg, but I digress, bring on the funk.

Don George

Ah! The "Joys of Sax". Candy and her group are great.

Candy wasn't even starting to break out in a sweat, only 'discovered' her the other month on the recommendation of a friend, my God can that woman play or not. I'm told she is regarded as one of the finest saxophonists alive today and having heard some of her other music - I would agree.

Christopher Lovelock she's only played with the likes of Tower of Power, Huey Lewis and Prince to make a few, but some people (47 at this point) have given this video a thumbs down. I'm hoping it's for the video quality and NOT her playing. If it's for her playing then their just plain jealous. It's amazing that humans are so inherently jealous of others, especially in a world (for the most part) that you can do whatever you want and be as good as you can be at it ... if you're willing to put the effort in.
