The band's debut album, 'Distances', was an exercise in restraint, ambient tones compliment the electronic underpinnings which swell throughout the album. On their sophomore release, 'Miles', little is held back as sonically addicting melodies burst from every corner of the album. Lead singles "Stuck" and "Always" lead the charge, displaying the band's firm footing in both an Indie/Rock world and one of mainstream radio Pop. With 'Miles', Canopy Climbers skipped the sophomore slump and raised the bar they had already set high for themselves.
Features on NoiseTrade.com and Relevant Magazine's site have introduced the trio to a wider audience as their presence on Hype Machine continues to grow thanks to glowing mentions on Indie Shuffle (http://www.indieshuffle.com/canopy-climbers-stuck-2/) and PopDose (http://popdose.com/single-play-week-of-5613/#disqus_thread). As more and more fans come on board, the excitement for where the band has been and where they're going is palpable, a truly great band in the making.

Am I alone in feeling what's around the corner?
I promise you I never wanted this to happen
I promise you I never wanted this at all
Unannounced, you took a step into my doorway
Unaware, I was afraid of what you might say
You turned the light onto the place that only I know
My eyes are stuck in a gaze reflecting every move you make
Another one trapped in a maze repeating all the same mistakes.
Another drink of something that would kill the memory
Replacing anything and dreams of how it should be
I told the truth and you were looking out your window
That's why I ask for you to go.
My eyes are stuck in a gaze reflecting every move you make
Another one trapped in a maze repeating all the same mistakes.
My eyes are stuck in a gaze reflecting every move you make
Another one trapped in a maze repeating all the same mistakes
My eyes are stuck in a gaze reflecting every move you make
Another one trapped in a maze repeating all the same mistakes
Stuck in a gaze reflecting every move you make
Another one trapped in a maze repeating all the same mistakes
My eyes are stuck in a gaze reflecting every move you make
Another one trapped in a maze repeating all the same mistakes.
The lyrics of Canopy Climbers' song "Stuck" centers around the feeling of being trapped and stuck in a situation or relationship that is not ideal. The song opens with the lines "Is it me or is there something in the water? Am I alone in feeling what's around the corner?" which suggests a sense of unease or foreboding. The singer seems to be questioning their own perceptions, unsure if they are the only ones who are sensing that something is not quite right.
The second verse recounts an encounter with someone who has unexpectedly come into their life. The singer feels afraid of what the person might say and is reluctant to let them in. The line "You turned the light onto the place that only I know" implies that this person has somehow exposed a vulnerable side of the singer.
The chorus repeats the lines "My eyes are stuck in a gaze reflecting every move you make, another one trapped in a maze repeating all the same mistakes." Here, the metaphor of being stuck in a maze is used to illustrate the feeling of being unable to escape from a situation, even if it is one that is causing pain or discomfort. The repeated phrase "reflecting every move you make" suggests that the singer is very attuned to the other person's actions and is feeling deeply affected by them.
The final verse mentions drinking "something that would kill the memory" and replacing "anything and dreams of how it should be." This implies that the singer is trying to forget about the situation or relationship but is struggling to do so. The lines "I told the truth and you were looking out your window, that's why I ask for you to go" suggest that the other person may not be receptive to the singer's feelings or may not fully understand them.
Overall, the lyrics of "Stuck" are an exploration of the feeling of being trapped in a situation that is not fulfilling or healthy. The use of metaphors such as a maze and being stuck in a gaze create a sense of being unable to escape.
