Too Late Too Far
Cant Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Feeling fallen like a stone
You ask your mother, "is it true?"
Stays to listen, nose is cold
We can't work it out

(It's following me)
(It's following me)
(It's following me)
(It's following me)

(It's following me)
(It's following me)
(It's following me)
(It's following me)

It's no fun, you're the last one
We're the last to know, we're the last to know
It's no fun, you're the last one
You're the last to know, you're the last to know

Kept all the letters like I should
No one is asking, "am I good?"
So ?, just might lose it
You know it's out there?

(You feel it fall)
(You feel it fall)
(You feel it fall)
(You feel it fall)

(You feel it fall)
(You feel it fall)
(You feel it fall)

It's no fun, you're the last one
You're the last to know, you're the last to know)

Is there anybody else?
Is there anybody else?
Is there anybody else?
Is there anybody else?
?
You feel it fall

Is there anybody else?
Is there anybody else?

Overall Meaning

Cant's song "Too Late Too Far" talks about the feeling of being lost, not knowing what to do, and feeling alone. The opening lines "Feeling fallen like a stone, you ask your mother, 'is it true?'" describe a moment of vulnerability when the person is seeking guidance and reassurance from someone close to them. However, the response is unclear as the mother merely stays to listen, showing that it's up to the person to figure things out themselves. The repeated line "It's following me" is a metaphor for the negative emotions that the person is carrying with them, that seems to never go away, and keeps haunting them.

The chorus "It's no fun, you're the last one, you're the last to know" highlights the feeling of being left behind or out of touch with the world around them. The "letters" mentioned might indicate some kind of physical or emotional baggage, with the person feeling that they are the only ones carrying it around, with no one else to share it with or alleviate the weight. The urgent plea "Is there anybody else?" indicates a desire for connection, someone who can relate and understand their struggles, and the hope that they are not completely alone.
