Come Back To Me
Carl Smith Lyrics

Go have your fling go dance and sing and get it over
Come back to me when laughter turn to sorrow
Though you must roam love's best at home think of tomorrow
Come back to me when life has lost its lure I'll be near sincerely yours
I understand I know that you must leave me
Go on and roam then come back home come back to me
is a song by Carl Smith that captures the emotions of a lover who watches his partner go away to explore the world, knowing that he also yearns to go out and see what the world has got to offer. The first line of the song "Come back to me when roamin' days are over" speaks to the idea that the singer wants his partner to come back to him after he has experienced life and all that it has to offer. He reminds his partner that although he may be out there having fun, his true love waits for him back home.
The following line "Go have your fling go dance and sing and get it over" is a not so subtle reminder that the singer wants his partner to live life to the fullest and get all the excitement and fun out of their system. However, he urges them to come back when the laughter turns to sorrow, to the place where their love is always waiting for them.
The final lines of the chorus "Come back to me when life has lost its lure I'll be near sincerely yours" explains that no matter how much the partner may experience in life, he will be there waiting for them when the novelty of the outside world fades away. His love is stable and strong, and he knows that his partner will eventually make his way back home to him. The song is a beautiful testament to the enduring power of love.
