She moved to Nashville, Tennessee when she was 19. She signed a developmental deal with Sony Music Nashville in 2012, which was ultimately unsuccessful.

The song's success led to her working with songwriter and producer busbee on her solo debut single "Every Little Thing". After this song received airplay on Sirius XM's "The Highway" channel, Pearce gained a contract with Big Machine Records, which released the single to country radio on February 22. The song also received a music video, which features Pearce performing the song live at Brown Owl Studio. On October 13th, 2017 her first studio album named after the title track "Every Little Thing" was released.

Those material kinda lies they tell
Life looks oh so well from the outside in
Honeymoons don't end
No, what I thought I wanted let me down
And I don't want it now
Keep the house, keep the truck
Kiss a one-night stand with a butterfly on her back
Take the bed where you used to lie
Keep the friends I never liked
And the happy ever after welcome mat
But you ain't gonna get this diamond back
No, never ever gettin' this diamond back
You can keep the dog and the Cadillac
But you ain't gonna get this diamond back
Well, I guess I'll just burn that dress
All those fairy tales can go straight to hell
Don't need you no more, with this
24 carats that I'm wearin', no, I don't care if you
Keep the house, keep the truck
Go downtown, get too drunk
Kiss a one-night stand with a butterfly on her back
Take the bed where you used to lie
Keep the friends I never liked
And the happy ever after welcome mat
But you ain't gonna get this diamond back
No, never ever gettin' this diamond back
You can keep the dog and the Cadillac
But you ain't gonna get this diamond back
Oh, what I thought I wanted let me down
But who's laughing now
Keep the house, keep the truck
Go downtown, get too drunk
Kiss a one-night stand with a butterfly on her back
Take the bed where you used to lie
Keep the friends I never liked
And the happy ever after welcome mat
You ain't gonna get this diamond back
No, never ever gettin' this diamond back
It's in a pawn shop next to the laundromat
You ain't gonna get this diamond back
Carly Pearce's song "Diamondback" is a country ballad that tells a story of a woman reclaiming her self-worth and independence after a failed relationship. The song is characterized by its strong yet vulnerable lyrics, which are expressive and impactful. The first verse is an assertion that the trappings of materialism are not necessary for a fulfilling life, and that appearances can be deceiving when it comes to the public display of happiness. She then tells her ex-partner what he can keep and what he will never receive, symbolized by the diamond which she treasures. The second verse continues this theme of moving on and implying that she has found a better life without him, telling him to keep his things and indicating that they do not fulfill her anymore. She emphasizes that she has learnt from her past and now knows what she truly wants in her life. The bridge sums up the song's message of self-sufficiency, with the singer giving a confident declaration that the diamond ring on her finger is no longer a symbol of their love, but rather a symbol of her power and strength. The song is an inspiring message of female independence embodied by a powerful voice and a beautiful melody.

CARLY PEARCE (2021) – DIAMONDBACK (Traducción en español)
Never been all that wrapped up in shiny swimming pools
Nunca he estado tan absorta en piscinas brillantes
Those material kinda lies they tell
Life looks oh so well from the outside in
Honeymoons don't end
Las lunas de miel no acaban
No, what I thought I wanted let me down
And I don't want it now
Y ya no lo quiero
Keep the house, keep the truck
Go downtown, get too drunk
Kiss a one-night stand with a butterfly on her back
Take the bed where you used to lie
Usa la cama donde solías mentir
Keep the friends I never liked
And the happy ever after welcome mat
But you ain't gonna get this diamond back
Pero no vas a recuperar este diamante
No, never ever gettin' this diamond back
No, nunca jamás vas a recuperar este diamante
You can keep the dog and the Cadillac
But you ain't gonna get this diamond back
Pero no vas a recuperar este diamante
Well I guess I'll just burn that dress
Bueno supongo que quemaré ese vestido
All those fairy tales can go straight to hell
Don't need you no more, with this
Ya no te necesito, con estos
24 carats that I'm wearin', no, I don't care if you
24 quilates que llevo, no, no me importa si tú
Keep the house, keep the truck
Go downtown, get too drunk
Kiss a one-night stand with a butterfly on her back
