USA Today music critic Brian Mansfield suggested that James was "arguably...the best guitar player the show has seen." James lifelong goal was to be a "famous blues musician," a dream that was almost shattered after a serious motorcycle accident at the age of 21. He was told by doctors that he would no longer be able to play guitar, a medical prediction that proved untrue. James has stated that his primary influence is blues guitarist Doyle Bramhall II, harkening back to his Texas roots. Other influences include Merle Haggard, Jonny Lang, Soundgarden, and Pearl Jam.
Don't

You've got me thinkin' thoughts in my head
The way your body's movin' slowly to the music only leaves me wantin' more
So baby let's don't call it a night
Love the way you're holdin' me tight.
When you're next to me, there's no place I'd rather be
Everything is feeling so right
Just let that clock tick away
'Cause in the morning we can sleep in late
Right now let's spend our time on what we've got in mind
I'll get up and close the door
So baby let's don't call it a night
Love the way you're holdin' me tight.
When you're next to me, there's no place I'd rather be
Everything is feeling so right
So baby let's don't call it a night
Well baby's lets don't call it a night
I love the way you're holdin' me, holdin' me tight.
When you're next to me, there's no place I'd rather be.
Everything is feeling so right
So baby let's don't call it,
No let's don't call it a night,
No, no, no, no
In Casey James's "Don't," the singer expresses his desire to prolong his time with his lover in a romantic setting. He admires his lover's appearance and how she moves to the music. The singer suggests that they should not end their night together just yet and instead continue enjoying each other's company. The singer wants to forget about the passing of time and the responsibility of the clock and instead focus only on the intimate connection he shares with his significant other. The song radiates a feeling of passionate urgency and a desire to make the most of every moment with one's significant other.
The song's lyrics have a typical romantic theme that revolves around the concept of love and affection. The song highlights the importance of staying in the moment, especially during intimate encounters. This is a popular choice of theme in country music. James delivers the lyrics with a smooth and sultry tone that matches the song's seductive lyrics. The guitar riffs help create a dreamy atmosphere that will resonate with the audience.
