Beginning violin lessons at the age of 8, Stratton followed quickly with cello lessons at 10, the piano at 11, and guitar at 16. It was through the piano that Stratton discovered a passion for writing and performing songs. After moving to Los Angeles in 1995, Casey signed with Magic Records. Work then began on the recordings that would eventually become his first full-length release, The Giver and the Grave Digger, which was released in 1996.
In 1997, after deciding not to renew his contract with Magic Records, Stratton began his first self-produced album, Lily Sleeps.
In the summer of 2000 Stratton moved to Chicago where he began a nearly two year hiatus from the record industry. He immersed himself in writing and recorded an independent album called The Winter Children. Many of these tracks would be re-recorded later and included on his Sony release Standing at the Edge.
Stratton's 6th studio album, "DIVIDE", was released in October 2005 on Stratton's independent label, Sleeping Pill Music. His next album, The Crossing, was released in April 2007. This was followed by Orbit, digitally released on February 5, 2008.
Memories and Photographs was released in September 2009, followed by A Winter Moon, an album of holiday music, in December 2009. Casey's next project, Myth & Stars, largely based on Greek Mythology, was released on September 21, 2010.

Casey Stratton Lyrics

I will not settle for less than I deserve
I did all the work after all
It's my call
So turn, face the wall while I leave
You may never bring my reprieve
There is no use in making your case
When we fall the sound of the crash will be all
That anyone hears for days
The pull of our orbit is so great I can't escape
This is no time for angels
We will not find salvation in this
We made the mistakes after all
It's our fault
We stay far too long, magnetized
We may never see the light
And so we go on, on repeat
Never complete
Can we pull apart?
Where do we start?
The lyrics to Casey Stratton's song "Orbit" speak to a situation where a relationship has reached its end and one person has taken it upon themselves to end things. The singer in the song declares that this is not a time to compromise and that they will not settle for less than they deserve. Having done all the work in the relationship, the singer feels that it is their call to end things. They instruct the other person to turn and face the wall while they leave, suggesting that they are not interested in hearing any arguments or pleas for reconciliation.
The chorus of the song references the pull of their relationship being so powerful that it feels impossible to escape, as they are caught in each other's orbit. The singer acknowledges that when the relationship ends, it will be a crash, and that the fallout from their separation will be heard for days. The second verse suggests that the relationship was doomed from the start due to the mistakes that both parties made, and laments that they stayed together for too long, despite both parties being aware that it wasn't working. Despite this, the singer still questions whether it is possible to pull apart and move on, and where they would even begin.
Overall, the lyrics to "Orbit" are a poignant reflection on the end of a relationship and the intense emotions that come with it. The song's use of space and scientific terminology as metaphors for the relationship lends it a unique poetic quality, while also vividly capturing the conflicting emotions of trying to separate from someone you are deeply connected to.
