If My Heart Had a Heart
Cassadee Pope Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

If my heart had a heart
It would show me some mercy
Wouldn't be so cold and cruel
No, it wouldn't keep hurting me
It wouldn't make it this hard
It wouldn't do me this way
It would cut me some slack, have my back
It would give me a break

If my heart had a heart it would go on and leave me alone
It'd stop having a mind of it's own
Let me forget you and let me let go
It would stop hanging on
It would finally put this to rest
Instead of putting this stake in my chest
Oh no, it wouldn't tear me apart

If my heart had a heart
It wouldn't still sing
Every time that I see you, someone says your name
I wouldn't still want you
No, I'd be okay

If my heart had a heart it would go on and leave me alone
It'd stop having a mind of it's own
Let me forget you and let me let go
It would stop hanging on
It would finally put this to rest
Instead of putting this stake in my chest
Oh no, it wouldn't tear me apart

If my heart had a heart, oh
Oh

If my heart had a heart
It'd stop breaking in two
It would stop loving you

If my heart had a heart it would go on and leave me alone
It'd stop having a mind of it's own
Let me forget you and let me let go
It would stop hanging on
It would finally put this to rest
Instead of putting this stake in my chest
Oh no, it wouldn't tear me apart

If my heart had a heart, oh
Oh

If my heart had a heart
Mm

Every song of Cassadee's is flawless. Just like Taylor Swift. Honestly. Cassadee is an underrated diamond.

@Bubbles
1. People are allowed to bring up an additional argument. Ashley was talking about songwriting, but added that Taylor CAN sing, countering the argument that she couldn't.
2. You are lying through your teeth. She co-produces her songs, is the head of her management team, comes up with music video ideas, and has self-written dozens of her own songs. Her producers and co-writers have ALL said that she does the majority of the work.
3. And where is Rebecca Black now?? She is incomparable to Taylor, who has remained at the top of the game for 14+ years and has had numerous hits. She has broken streaming records and sales records and views records CONSTANTLY throughout her entire career. All of her albums are acclaimed, and she is #8 on Billboard's Greatest of All Time list. THESE NUMBERS COUNT.
4. No one said that.
5. You had a sweeping opinion that brushed all of Taylor's talent under the rug, calling her voice "crappy" and that her producers do all the work. You had no desire to be respectful or be open-minded. That is rude and HATE.
6. Taylor Swift's voice IS amazing. She is far from the best and isn't Ariana or Whitney, but she has drastically improved her skill over the years. Saying her voice is crappy is stupid. Saying "average" would have been more accurate.

Bubbles have you even heard Cornelia Street??? I Think He Knows? London Boy? No? Ok then hush up. They’re both talented.
