Catatonia was formed in 1992, reputedly after songwriter Mark Roberts heard Cerys busking in Cardiff city centre. They had considerable success, their most famous hits being "Mulder and Scully", "Road Rage" and "Dead From The Waist Down". In September 2001, Cerys announced her departure from Catatonia after bouts of exhaustion and anxiety. Her departure was followed shortly by the breakup of the group.
Cerys is now performing her solo material (which is more folk/ country influenced) .
Not to be confused with the Swedish metal band Katatonia.
Cerys now has a solo album and is working as a DJ for Alternative radio Station BBC 6 Music.

Before the sands of time run out do-da-do
I know that I could never
Fall from grace, I'm far too clever
I will achieve my destiny do-da-do
My stars assent a certainty do-da-do
I know that I could never
Na na na na na na
Na na na na na na
Na na na na na na
Na na na na na na
Boy sees, boy takes, boy hooked
And the subject's closed
Worst case scenario becomes real
It don't show
No clever clevers can dissuade do-da-do
From tougher substance I was made do-da-do
I know that I could never
Fall from grace, I'm far too clever do-do
Na na na na na na
Na na na na na na
Na na na na na na
Na na na na na na
Boy sees, boy takes, boy hooked
And the subject's closed
Worst case scenario becomes real
It don't show
You know the time to act is now do-da-do
The lyrics of Catatonia's song "Game On" express a sense of confidence and determination to succeed despite the challenges that come with it. The opening lines "You know the time to act is now before the sands of time run out" suggests a sense of urgency, that time is running out to achieve one's goals. The repetition of "do-da-do" and "na na na na na na" throughout the song creates a catchy and upbeat tone, adding to the overall sense of optimism.
The lyrics also suggest a sense of self-assurance, with the singer proclaiming "I know that I could never fall from grace, I'm far too clever." This confidence is further emphasized in the line "my stars assent a certainty", indicating a belief in fate and destiny. Despite the potential for failure, the singer is determined to persevere, as shown in the lines "from tougher substance I was made" and "no clever clevers can dissuade" from achieving their goals.
Overall, "Game On" is a song that encourages the listener to stay focused and determined in pursuing their dreams, with an energetic and upbeat sound to match.
