First Kiss
Chanté Moore Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
When you kiss me like that
I'm not sure if it's love
I just know you move me
And it feels like
Oooh, ba, ba do, da, da, dah
You caress me truly
Now the breeze lifts me high
You would think I'm flying
And it feels like
Oooh, ba, ba do, da, da, dah
And it feels like
Oooh, ba, ba do, da, da, dah
It feels like
Oooh, ba, ba do, da, da, dah
And it feels like
Oooh, ba, ba do, da, da, dah
You got me swaying
To the beat of dreams
You got me swaying
Oooh whoo
Dreams like
Na, na, na, na
You got me swaying to the beat
Da, da, da,da
You got me swaying
Ba, ba, do, da
The lyrics of Chanté Moore's "First Kiss" describe the overpowering sensation of attraction and infatuation during a physical encounter. The singer asks if her partner feels the same emotions she does when they kiss and move together. She is not sure if what she is experiencing is love, but she knows it moves her. The passionate moment is captured in the lyrics: "In the still of the night, you caress me truly. Now the breeze lifts me high; you would think I'm flying." The sensation is almost surreal and otherworldly - she is caught in the moment and doesn't know what to make of these new feelings. The repetition of "Oooh, ba, ba do, da, da, dah" emphasizes the emotions that are difficult to articulate or identify.
The chorus moves into a dreamlike state, where the singer feels as if she is swaying to the beat of a dream. The rhythmic pattern invites the listener to join in the dance, to feel the same fluid movement that the singer describes. The lyrics "You got me swaying to the beat, Da, da, da,da" and "You got me swaying, Ba, ba, do, da" are an invitation to the listener to join in the dance and get lost in the rhythm. The song is a description of the powerful, all-consuming emotions that come with the memory of one's first kiss. It speaks to the indescribable sensations of lust and infatuation that come with physical intimacy.
