Theres only one man that can go from a pop band to a rock/metal band to an acoustic folk band and make it work..and that ladies and gentlemen is Charlie Simpson...He's a f*cking genious and inspiration to us all. And this is a beautiful tune...Can't wait for the album!

I discovered Charlie Simpson just last week. I read up on him and was astonished to find that he had been in the band 'Busted'. I'm from Canada, so forgive me for my ignorance when it comes to UK artists & bands. I honestly thought that this guy had always done this type of music. Denying that this guy is stellar in both writing and vocals aspects is just simply oblivious and ignorant. I can't believe people are bashing him. He's a real great listen. Love the soul this guy has in his songs.

same here! I'm from Canada as well, and heard about him recently and love his music... its funny because i was obsessed with Busted when I was 12 and had a pretty long laugh when I found out it was the same guy.. (clearly my music taste has changed plenty of years later thank goodness)

I agree with you. I'm from the UK so knew vaguely about it all but I was only about 6-7 when busted broke up. The reason people bash him is coz he left Busted to go to fightstar and that caused the Band to end. I think they're stupid for doing so as it's obvious that he didn't like being in busted and he left to join a much better band.

All I have to say is that despite being 'selfish' for leaving busted, Charlie is much better off without them. Many of you probably don't like fightstar, but to me it opened my eyes to a totally different sound, following him on his new solo career has been awesome and with the new album to be released in May, I cant wait. This guy decided to stop doing something that didn't make him happy. Instead he followed something he loved doing..I commend him for that.

I'm a massive Busted fan and yes I am gutted that it was because of him that Busted ended but I still respect Charlie with his decision to leave. It came to a point in Busted's career where he felt unfulfilled and unhappy with the music they were making so he decided to leave. He then made Fightstar where he finally made the music he always wanted to make which made him happy. Now with his solo career he is doing the exact same thing, making music and actually loving it. So calling him 'self fish' or having a 'big ego' for throwing away fame for happiness is ignorant and it needs to stop.

This guy deserves more credit, Busted were good, Fightstar are possibly better, but he is just fantastic. I hope people take him seriously. This is honestly such a good song.

I don't like the hate Charlie gets for not rejoining Busted. It is clear that when they broke up it was amicable and that Charlie clearly has a very different creative direction from the rest of the band.

In his solo work he sounds much more honest and truthful to himself, that said I still enjoy some of Busted's songs - some of them have aged terribly.

Back to this actual video, lovely song for some calm reflection. Thanks Charlie =)

The comments about his ego being too big for McBusted are PATHETIC. Does this music sound anything like what Busted played? NO. He left Busted for a reason. Charlie's changed, he's matured, it's not called having a big ego, it's called sticking by what he wants to do.
Sure I'm even going to see McBusted but if Charlie doesn't want to join them, that's HIS decision, not yours.

He said in an interview the main reason he didnt go with Mcbusted was because of his new album and that he really wanted to focus on it, which i think is better! he is much better off alone in my opinion he can write the songs the songs that are much more personal to him :)

@@sko3925 ok so way back in the late 90's when he was a literal child he was in a boy band called Busted and wrote a bunch of hits. His record label proceeded to give a lot of his songs that he wrote to the Jonas Brothers and other bands (like the song 3000) so he quit, also he wasn't happy being used to write songs that he honestly didn't like and wasn't allowed to proform. But Charlie retained of lot of the rights to a lot of their songs do to the fact that he wrote most of them.
He than formed a band called fightstar straight afterwards on the day the band dissolved.
Around 10 years ago Busted reformed and Charlie stated he only join if they used a different label but they was already signed. They then merged with McFly to expand thier music library.
What upsets a lot of fans was that when asked why he didn't join, he said that he wasn't going to be a songwriting monkey and that he should get a say in what happens to his music. True to his word when they signed to a different label and McFly went to do their own thing he rejoined the band.
Alot of people are mad at him for breaking up busted and essentially holding a large portion of their music library hostage do to a record label decision.

I saw Charlie supporting Twin Atlantic when they were on tour last year and I was very surprised by him -- he was a proper quality act for a "support", people seemed to really enjoy his music. So weird seeing him as I didn't know he was playing until I got there.
I saw him when I was a little kid playing for Busted (haha) and I know why he changed to Fightstar and his solo career, you could tell he needed something else.

He is a world class songwriter and musician and his band Fightstar were superb! Not a popular style of music but a type that is enjoyed by fans of "proper" music and his solo album was great too.
He through away fame to make quality music. Something that real bands do

Your reply is dead spot on.Although Busted are not shit they can't compare to Fightstar.If people wanted Busted they should have supported their rockier tracks.Charlie wouldn't have a problem being in a rock Busted.Pop was not his thing and I congratulate him for having the guts leaving the fame and money.
