<… Read Full Bio ↴Charlotte Day Wilson is a Canadian singer-songwriter based in Toronto.
Wilson has the type of slow-burning, smoldering jazz and R&B-influenced sound that already feels classic. She has been quietly churning out songs, from the gospel-washed “Work” back in April to a guest spot in BADBADNOTGOOD’s “In Your Eyes". Her debut EP, CDW, Wilson solidifyies her timeless sound.
Getting here hasn’t been easy—the artist has been, as she says, “working [her] ass off.” Needless to say, the effort has been worth it. Wilson’s tracks have been featured everywhere from Apple Music commercials to Grace & Frankie (and, natch, our playlists), and the singer undertook a tour with Local Natives.

Searched through the valley
Can you hear me calling?
Won't you come find me
Please don't forsake me
All of a sudden
My heart is breaking
(Up on the mountain)
I've seen this place before (searched through the valley)
A color-blinded senseless sight to see (can you hear me calling?)
And when it rains only rains on me (won't you come find me)
But where were you when I was frozen? (Please don't forsake me)
Drenched in white stone, it was cold (all of a sudden)
And I had been ashamed and opposed to fire (my heart is breaking)
But still I do everything you require (I feel it coming)
(Up on the mountain)
So what can I say but I'm hoping (searched through the valley)
The hour will still turn to golden (can you hear me calling?)
And we will see the sun as it's supposed to be (won't you come find me)
Shining straight through to you and me
Up on the mountain (up on a mountain)
Searched through the valley (searched through the valley)
Can you hear me calling? (Can you hear me calling?)
Won't you come find me (won't you come and find me)
Please don't forsake me (please don't forsake me)
All of a sudden (all of a sudden)
My heart is breaking (mm-hmm)
I feel it coming (I, I)
I don't understand why you blame me
Just take me as I am, it's the same me
We should be together
So tell me where you go when you know better
I love holding you and touching you
'Cause you help me deal with the pain
So how could you turn into
The demons you
Once said that you'd keep away
I'm in my feelings, I'm tired, I'm bleeding
I'm nothing, I'm choking without you
I become weak from the mountains
I'll scream 'til the morning wraps me back around you
Where the colors of your mind will turn around
And so will you too
Oh, oh no, don't let it go
Up on the mountain (mountain, baby)
Searched through the valley (searched through the valley)
Can you hear me calling? (Can you hear me calling?)
Won't you come find me (I know, I know, I know)
Please don't forsake me (please don't)
All of a sudden
My heart is breaking
I feel it coming
Up on the mountain
Searched through the valley
Can you hear me calling?
Won't you come find me
Please don't forsake me
All of a sudden
My heart is breaking
I feel it coming
The song "Mountains" by Charlotte Day Wilson is a powerful and emotional plea to a loved one who seems to have abandoned the singer during her time of need. The opening lines ("Up on the mountain, searched through the valley, can you hear me calling, won't you come find me") depict the singer calling out to the person she loves and needs, but receiving no response. She is lost and alone, and her heart is breaking. This is further reinforced by the repeated lines ("please don't forsake me, all of a sudden, my heart is breaking, I feel it coming"), which show the singer's desperation and fear of being left alone.
The second verse ("I've seen this place before, a color-blinded senseless sight to see, and when it rains only rains on me, but where were you when I was frozen") highlights the loneliness and isolation that the singer is experiencing. She feels like she is the only one suffering, and that even nature is against her. The next line "But where were you when I was frozen?" suggests that the person she's calling out to was absent when she needed them the most. The final lines of the song ("I'm in my feelings, I'm tired, I'm bleeding, I'm nothing, I'm choking without you") illustrate the depths of despair the singer is in, and her desperate need for the love and support of the person she's calling out to.
