Hence her forthcoming EP's title 'Charlotte'. The six song EP is led by single 'Talk You Down', an addictive percussion-driven electronic pop number about her anxiety. Elsewhere she explores fear and struggle through a relationship on 'Sin x Secret', a sense of feeling lost on 'Cowboys', aching heartbreak on 'Slow Motion', the perils of love on 'You', and addiction and dependence on 'RX'.
Born and raised in LA, Lawrence spent little time in the city and more by the Malibu coast and up in the canyons. She grew up playing piano from the age of five and got into guitar around the age of 13. Charlotte has spent the past few years writing and recording while finding her musical voice, and she's just getting started.
God Must Be Doing Cocaine
Charlotte Lawrence Lyrics

Walking round LA
Making the city our stage
Gives us our pleasure
And cuts it with pain
God must be doing cocaine
Everyone's changing
Don't like the way we were made
So many prayers
How does he stay awake?
God must be doing cocaine
Can anyone really blame Him?
He probably needs an escape
Looking down at His creation
And thinking we've thrown it away
Robots are learning
And we can't keep pace
Feels like we'll all be replaced
Gets wild ideas
When he stays up late
God must be doing cocaine
Can anyone really blame Him?
He probably needs an escape
Looking down at His creation
And thinking we've thrown it away
I drove my brothers
To school yesterday
Who's gonna make sure they're safe?
Feels like sometimes
He goes missing for days
God must be doing cocaine
In Charlotte Lawrence's song "God Must Be Doing Cocaine," the lyrics express a feeling of chaos and confusion in the city of Los Angeles. It talks about how people are constantly changing their physical appearance and relying on external pleasure, which is mixed with pain. The references to zombies and robots suggest a sense of societal disillusionment and disconnection from humanity.
The song title itself is striking as it conveys a shocking image of God being addicted to cocaine which is seen as a sinful and destructive drug. However, the lyrics suggest that this is not entirely unfounded, as the chaos and destruction in the world may be attributed to God's own addiction.
There is a strong sense of helplessness in the lyrics, particularly towards the end of the song, where the singer wonders who will be there to protect her brothers. This suggests that there may be a lack of faith in a higher power, and a feeling that people are left to fend for themselves in a world that is seemingly out of control.
