One of the best known American power pop bands, the group's biggest hits over the years include "I Want You to Want Me", "Surrender", "Dream Police", "Don't Be Cruel" (a cover of Elvis Presley's hit), and "The Flame". Their most recent release, The Latest, has gained critical acclaim. They also wrote and performed the theme song for "The Colbert Report" as well as "That 70s Show", both tunes being fan favorites.
Nielsen and Petersson originally formed the group as Fuse in 1967, with Carlos joining the group several years later; however, when Zander joined as vocalist in 1972, the group was renamed Cheap Trick. Zander is considered one of the best hard rock vocalists of his era. For their part, Tom Petersson has been known for playing custom made 8, 12, and even a 18 string custom bass made by Modulus for Tom in 1981 and Rick Nielsen also has a penchant for unusual instruments. He owns and plays a five-necked solidbody electric guitar (it can be seen in the video for the song "She's Tight" among others).

All mine, all mine, all mine, all mine, all mine, all mine.
All mine, all mine, all mine, all mine, all mine, all mine.
All mine, all mine, all mine, all mine, all mine, all mine.
All mine, all mine, all mine, all mine.
You can drink my whiskey, get high all night;
Play my guitar, well, that's all right.
Take what you want as a matter of fact.
You can have anything, anything except...
My girlfriends, my girlfriends.
That's where i draw the line.
My girlfriends, my girlfriends.
All mine, all mine, all mine, all mine, all mine.
Promise her cocaine, reds, whites and blues.
If i catch you doing that shit,
I know you're gonna lose.
Like a copy cat killer lacks originality.
Yeah, a lousy cliff Irving trying to plagiarize me.
My girlfriends, my girlfriends.
That's where i draw the line.
My girlfriends, my girlfriends.
All mine, all mine, all mine, all mine, all mine.
Well, one of these days, and it won't be long.
Ain't the same old line from a rock- 'n' -roll song.
If long tall sally ever talked like that,
You can take what you want as a matter of fact.
You can have everything, anything except...
My girlfriends, my girlfriends.
That's where i draw the line.
My girlfriends, my girlfriends.
All mine, all mine, all mine, all mine, all mine.
Don't try, steal my girlfriends.
O, i love her a lot, yeah, yeah, yeah
My girlfriends, my girlfriends.
It's all that I've got.
It's all that I've got.
It's all that I've got, oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
My girlfriends, my girlfriends.
Don't try, steal my girlfriends.
The lyrics to Cheap Trick's song "Girlfriends" convey the possessiveness and protectiveness that one can feel towards their significant other. The repetition of the phrase "all mine" emphasizes this possessiveness and makes it clear that the singer is not willing to share his girlfriends with anyone. The lyrics also suggest that the singer is willing to provide for his partner, offering whiskey and a guitar to play, as well as money with the caveat that it will never be repaid. However, the one thing that the singer is not willing to share is his girlfriends.
The lyrics also suggest that the singer is wary of others who may try to come between him and his partner. The promise of cocaine and drugs is seen as a threat to the relationship, and the singer warns that anyone who engages in such behavior will "lose" him. The song also includes a reference to Long Tall Sally, a classic rock and roll song, suggesting that the singer is a fan of the genre and that his possessiveness towards his girlfriends is in line with the attitudes portrayed in classic rock and roll songs.
Overall, the lyrics to Cheap Trick's "Girlfriends" convey a sense of protectiveness and possessiveness towards a partner, emphasizing the importance of loyalty and maintaining a strong relationship.
