Scott’s last recording, a small house recording that was mixed and mastered by fellow Nashville musicians, including Kenny Hutson (Vigilantes of Love, Over the Rhine), who served as the project’s producer, is a beautiful introduction to what Scott creates. The debut of this collection, “the little boat ep”, resulted in local acclaim and Scott’s first major tour, opening for artists Sandra McCracken and Derek Webb. Since then, Scott has continued with great live work and displays such as she goes. An obvious singer-songwriter by nature, Scott has been compared to the likes of Jolie Holland and Gillian Welch, fitting into a genre of Americana music that’s been shaped by modern (and specifically, Nashville) influences.

Still we plead before Thy throne
For the times of, sweet refreshing,
Which can come from Thee alone
Blessed earnests, Thou hast given,
But in these we would not rest
Blessings still with, Thee are hidden,
Pour them forth and make us blest!
2. Prayer ascendeth to Thee ever,
cnswer! Father, answer prayer
Bless oh bless each, weak endeavor,
Blood-bought pardon to declare
Wake Thy slumbering, children wake them,
Bid them to Thy harvest go
Blessings O our, Father make,
Round their steps let blessings flow
3. Let no people be forgotten,
Let Thy showers on all descend
That in one loud blessed anthem,
Millions may in triumph blend
Give reviving, give refreshing,
Give the looked-for Jubilee
To Thyself may, crowds be pressing,
Bringing glory unto Thee

The lyrics emphasize the belief that these blessings can only come from God and cannot be found elsewhere. The singer acknowledges that they have already received some blessings from God ("Blessed earnests, Thou hast given"), but they do not want to settle for just those blessings. They continue to seek and pray for the hidden blessings that only God can pour forth upon them, desiring to be made truly blessed.
The lyrics also emphasize the power and significance of prayer. The singer acknowledges that prayer constantly ascends to God ("Prayer ascendeth to Thee ever"), and they implore God to answer their prayers. Specifically, they ask for blessings and forgiveness to be bestowed upon those who are weak and struggling ("Bless oh bless each weak endeavor, Blood-bought pardon to declare"). The lyrics also highlight the need for God to wake up those who are spiritually slumbering and send them out into the harvest, referring to the mission of sharing the Gospel and bringing others to God.
The singer's heart goes out to all people, and they emphasize that no one should be forgotten. They pray that God's showers of blessings may descend upon everyone, leading to a triumphant blending of millions in a blessed anthem. The desire here is for revival and refreshing to be experienced on a grand scale ("Give reviving, give refreshing, Give the looked-for Jubilee"). The lyrics beseech God to let the crowds press in towards Him, bringing glory unto Him, as His blessings and revival are experienced by many.
Overall, these lyrics express a heartfelt plea to God for His blessings, refreshing, and revival to be poured out upon all people. The singer acknowledges their dependence on God for true blessings and longs for a glorious outpouring of His presence and power.
