Strong Enough is the second international single release from American singer/actress Cher's twenty-third album Believe.
After its performance in the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, "Strong Enough" was perceived to be less successful than its predecessor "Believe", but after its remixes were promoted the song became a huge hit in the Billboard dance charts.
Outside of North America, Strong Enough was capable of becoming a hit. While it received less attention in the U.S., Strong Enough managed to become a top ten and top twenty hit in almost every country that it charted in.
The music video for Strong Enough was directed by Nigel Dick and was released world wide in early 1999. A promo VHS tape and CD-R were released in the United States, but are very hard to find. The video promo also includes the remix video.
In this video Cher is a computer virus and her role is an advisor who tells a bad boyfriend the reasons why his girlfriend will leave him. Other participations in this video include teens in a party, two women, two robbers and lots of gothic instrument players.
A couple of months after the release of the original music video for Strong Enough Dan-O-Rama best known for his work on remix videos created the "Vocal Club Edit" video for this song. He used the Strong Enough (Pumpin' Dolls Vocal Epic Club) remix.

Strong Enough
Cher Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
There's nothing you can say or do for me
And I don't want a miracle
You'll never change for no one
And I hear your reasons why
Where did you sleep last night?
And was she worth it
'Cause I'm strong enough
To live without you
Strong enough
And I quit crying
Long enough
Now I'm strong enough
To know
You gotta go
There's no more to say
So save your breath and
Walk away
No matter what I hear you say
I'm strong enough
To know
You gotta go
So you feel misunderstood
Baby, have I got news for you
On being used, I could write the book
But you don't wanna hear about it
'Cause I've been losing sleep
And you've been goin' cheap
And she ain't worth half of me it's true
Now I'm telling you
That I'm strong enough
To live without you
Strong enough
And I quit crying
Long enough
Now I'm strong enough
To know
You gotta go
Come hell or waters high
You'll never see me cry
This is our last goodbye, it's true
I'm telling you
Now I'm strong enough
To live without you
Strong enough
And I quit crying
Long enough
Now I'm strong enough
To know
You gotta go
There's no more to say
So save your breath and
Walk away
No matter what I hear you say
I'm strong enough to know
You gotta go
Now I'm strong enough
To live without you
Strong enough
And I quit crying
Long enough
Now I'm strong enough
To know
You gotta go
(There's no more to say)
(So save your breath and)
(Walk away)
(No matter what I hear you say)
(I'm strong enough to know)
The lyrics of "Strong Enough" by Cher are about a woman who has finally realized her worth and strength to move forward and leave a relationship that has caused her more pain than happiness. She is tired of being taken for granted, being lied to, and being cheated on by her partner. She does not want to hear any more excuses or promises to change; she has decided to end things for good.
In the first verse, she makes it clear that she does not need anyone's pity or help. She has already made up her mind to leave and move on with her life. She also questions her partner about their infidelity and whether it was worth it, implying that she already knows the answer. In the chorus, she repeats that she is strong enough to live without him, to stop crying, and to move on. She is done with the relationship and wants nothing more to do with it.
In the second verse, she reveals that she has been used and taken for granted by her partner while he has been cheating on her. She is done with the situation and does not want to hear any more excuses or apologies. The chorus repeats, and she asserts that she is strong enough to face whatever life throws at her, and she is ready to move on.
Line by Line Meaning
I don't need your sympathy
I don't want your pity
There's nothing you can say or do for me
Nothing you do or say will change things
And I don't want a miracle
I don't want a miraculous solution
You'll never change for no one
You will never change your behavior for anyone
And I hear your reasons why
I hear your justifications
Where did you sleep last night?
Where did you stay last night?
And was she worth it
Was she worth cheating on me for?
Was she worth it?
Was cheating on me really worth it?
'Cause I'm strong enough
I have the strength to move on
To live without you
To live without your presence in my life
Strong enough
Having enough strength to let go
And I quit crying
I stop shedding my tears
Long enough
Long enough to heal
Now I'm strong enough
Now I have the strength and the courage
To know
To understand
You gotta go
I have to let you go
There's no more to say
There's no point in continuing the conversation
So save your breath and
Don't waste your time talking
Walk away
Just leave and forget me
No matter what I hear you say
Regardless of what you say
I'm strong enough
I can handle it myself
So you feel misunderstood
You feel like no one understands you
Baby, have I got news for you
I have news for you
On being used, I could write the book
I know all about being used, I have experienced it myself
But you don't wanna hear about it
But you don't want to listen to me
'Cause I've been losing sleep
I couldn't sleep
And you've been goin' cheap
You have been cheating with other women
And she ain't worth half of me it's true
The woman you cheated on me with isn't worth my time
Now I'm telling you
I'm telling you the truth
Come hell or waters high
I am determined to move on no matter what happens
You'll never see me cry
I won't cry anymore for you
This is our last goodbye, it's true
This is the last time we will ever say goodbye
