Cherito nace un 23 de agosto en Santo Domingo, Rep. Dom. Desde niño, su padre Chery Jiménez (co-fundador de las agrupaciones musicales “Wilfrido Vargas & Los Beduinos”, “Los Hijos del Rey” y “The New York Band”) y su abuelo José Jiménez Belén (destacado periodista y escritor de libros) lo encaminaron a educarse musicalmente, al percibir en él notables aptitudes.
Cherito recorre el mundo interpretando numerosos éxitos y recibiendo importantes premios, siendo cantante líder de la orquesta “The New York Band” desde el año 1988 al 1995. Cherito junto a The New York Band conquistaron las grandes plazas consumidoras de música tropical, incluyendo Puerto Rico, Estados Unidos, México, Colombia, Venezuela, España y República Dominicana, y vendieron más de 2.5 millones de discos mundialmente con 10 álbumes en el mercado.
En el 1996, Cherito se retira temporalmente de los escenarios, dedicándose exclusivamente a producir música para grandes artistas (Celia Cruz, Wilfrido Vargas, Las Chicas del Can, entre otros) y a la vez desarrolla nuevos talentos (Jimmy Bauer, Rubén Ariel y Alexa). Además, tiene la oportunidad de co-producir junto al exitoso productor Sergio George y ser compositor exclusivo de la editora Warner Music Group.
En el 2007, Cherito decide regresar a los escenarios y se convierte en uno de los proyectos artísticos más exitosos de los últimos tiempos en la República Dominicana.
Cherito actualmente realiza una exitosa gira por la República Dominicana y al mismo tiempo está produciendo su nuevo álbum, el cual proyecta tenerlo listo para Mayo del 2009. Este nuevo álbum de El Mega Artista, como suelen llamarlo, se titulará "CHERITO FOREVER" e incluirá 14 temas en los géneros Merengue, Bachata y Balada Pop, manteniendo su acostumbrado estilo romántico y moderno.
