Together with Owen Bradley, Atkins created the smoother country music style known as the Nashville sound, which expanded country music's appeal to include adult pop music fans as well. His virtuoso picking style - inspired by Merle Travis, Django Reinhardt, George Barnes and Les Paul - brought him admirers both within and outside the country scene. Atkins produced records for Eddy Arnold, Don Gibson, Jim Reeves, Jerry Reed, Connie Smith, and Waylon Jennings.

This was Mom’s last favorite song. She had a CD of Jam Man and played it regularly.

She loved all music and would sing along to many songs remembering the words long after she had forgotten her son’s name.

Alzheimer’s disease took your muscle control, your memory, your speech, and finally your life only a few days ago.

I knew I heard this somewhere before when I heard it on the Etrade commercial. I was just listening to some of Chet's songs on here and saw Jam Man and was like "Of course, It was Chet Atkins".

daffydoug, You were correct in saying Chet won a Grammy for this tune. Atkins is the country artist most awarded by the Recording Academy. Between his first award in 1967 and 1996 when Jam Man won for Best Country Instrumental Performance, Atkins won a total of fourteen Grammys in addition to a Lifetime Achievement Award.

I met Chet Atkins today in the funniest way, was rowing on a canoe with my 2 friends in Cranford, NJ and this older man was sitting right by the river with a guitar, casually waved To each other and asked him to play a quick tune, it was surprisingly very good as we were drifting away but it was awesome, pretty funny haha

2nd part is being played by Paul Yandell, Chet's long-time sidekick, who passed away several years ago. I'm glad Chet finally got some recognition with one of his hits being used in a high-profile advertisement. The song, Jam Man, won Chet a Grammy -- one of his many Grammy's I might add. RIP Chet & Paul.

To play it like Chet, you can almost forget about it. He was superhuman. To just be able to come close would take the better part of your lifetime.

Its different for different people ,, some have perfect pitch and great hand to eye co ordination , so id say a couple of months if they practiced a couple hours a day and knew the chords ,, plus it may not be as complex as chet played in the bridge part of the piece ,,, A minor to G ,, then C to G is a start

@flappybird11 you can but it's just the matter of figuring it out. he's playing an Am to G and then C to G for the most part. his thumb is constantly playing the bass notes though and that's what you're hearing
