Ray, this is one of the most spot on recordings of JBR "Chet-style" I've heard. It's a very difficult feat to play Chet's arrangement of JBR and most versions of this tune on YT are guitarists playing the simpler "Bobby Helms" or Brian Setzer versions. Kudos to you for mastering something that others won't attempt. :)

Gretsch guitars are stunning and I agree they might still be the best but the guitar Ray's playing in this vid is a Gibson Country Gentleman. Actually this model was originally designed and produced by Gretsch and so the sounf of this guitar is definitely Gretsch!!. All the best to u, friend.

It's surprising how nasty musicians can be to each other. They're always fussing about who's the best. It's too subjective to pick one person. And its really not that important anyway. Just pick what appeals to you.. like looking at a painting. Ray brings joy and beauty into what is a pretty rotten world at times. He obviously has a great deal of talent and skill, you can't deny that. Keep up the good picking Ray!

There's a version of jingle bells, its pureley instrumental in a blues style(what with a lot of palm muted strokes, bends). My work always ALWAYS plays it. **Does anyone know which version that is?**

I want to apologize for my earlier response. I was not feeling well. I am a finger style guitarist. I have talked with Chet Atkins, Jerry Reed, Tommy Emmuanuel and Nokie Edwards. I know a lot of rock players. Flat picking and running notes is not that hard to do. Pedals cover up touch, clean, tone and skill. Speed is not what good playing is about, it is touch, clean, ring and tone. Mark Knopfler also says Chet is the best, I have seen Mark play with Chet, Etc. I liked what I heard very good.

Yes man, I know what you mean. I tried to purchase a Gretsch White Falcon (my favourite) or a Duo Jet but the price... anyway Gretsch put on the market the Electromatic series, but the sound's not the same.
