Questions 67 and 68
Chicago Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Can this feeling that we have together
Ooh, suddenly exist between
Did this meeting of our minds together
Ooh, happen just today, somewhere
I'd like to know,
Can you tell me, please don't tell me
It really doesn't matter anyhow
It's just that the thought of us so happy
Appears in my mind, as a beautifully mysterious thing, well, yeah, yeah

Was your image in my mind so deeply, ooh
Ooh, other faces fade away
Blocking memories of unhappy hours
Ooh, leavin' just a burnin' love
I'd like to know
Can you tell me, please don't tell me
It really doesn't matter anyhow
It's just that the thought of us so happy
Appears in my mind, as a beautifully mysterious thing
Yes it does now, baby

Can this lovin' we have found within us
Ooh, suddenly exist between
Did we somehow try to make it happen
Ooh, was it just a natural thing
I'd like to know
Can you tell me, please don't tell me
It really doesn't matter anyhow
It's just that the thought of us so happy
Appears in my mind, as a beautifully mysterious thing

Yes it does now, baby
Questions 67 and 68

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "Questions 67 and 68" by Chicago express a sense of uncertainty and wonder about a new romantic relationship. The singer is asking if the intense feelings they are experiencing together are real and if they just appeared suddenly, or if they were a natural progression. The lyrics also suggest that the singer has been hurt in past relationships, but those memories fade away when they are with their current partner.

The use of the numbers 67 and 68 in the title refers to the year the song was written, 1967, and the year it was recorded, 1968. The lyrics were written by Robert Lamm, one of the founding members of Chicago, and the song was included on their debut album, "The Chicago Transit Authority."

on Oh, Thank You Great Spirit

Great song and a fitting tribute to Jimi from his friend and fan Terry Kath, I've all ways believed the song was kind of a prospective of the dead, coming to the realization that they have crossed over and or no longer burden by all of life's problem's and pain's and are now free from all, and now overcome with gratitude to the Great Spirit , Greater of the universe and of life , GOD, that he is now free to fly the heavenly sky's , but ether way death or just a good night's sleep, great song.
