Children of the Sun Lyrics

Silent screams in the night
tell my lover I'm a fool in the light
Sweetness is darkness and darkness is safe
Who are you belonging to?
Silent lovers in the light, tell my loved ones I am ready to die
Sweetness is darkness and darkness you are
You got those, you got those
poison eyes
Ooh I am your Roots
Ooh I am your Roots
Ooh I am your Roots
Who are you belonging to?
Silent screams in the night
tell my lover I'm a fool in the light
Sweetness is darkness and darkness I want
Ooh I am your Roots
Ooh I am your Roots
Ooh I am your Roots
Ooh I am your Roots
Ooh I am your Roots
I am Roots
I am Roots
I'm your roots
Ooh I am your Roots
Ooh I am your Roots
Ooh I am your Roots
The lyrics of "Roots" by Children of the Sun explore themes of identity, belonging, and the duality of light and darkness. The repeated question, "Who are you belonging to?" suggests a sense of longing to find one's place or purpose in the world.
The line "Silent screams in the night, tell my lover I'm a fool in the light" reflects the inner turmoil and vulnerability of the singer. They feel as though they have made foolish choices or mistakes that have been exposed to others, especially someone they love. The mention of "sweetness is darkness and darkness is safe" conveys a paradoxical notion that darkness can provide a sense of comfort or security, while sweetness or light can be misleading or dangerous.
The repetition of the phrase "Ooh I am your Roots" signifies a deep connection or responsibility the singer feels towards someone or something. It suggests that they are the foundation, the source, or the essence of someone or something else. This repetition reinforces the theme of belonging and the singer's desire to fulfill that role.
In the final lines, the singer states, "I am Roots, I'm your roots." This declaration reinforces their sense of identity and emphasizes their importance as a source of support or stability for someone else. The repetition of "Ooh I am your Roots" further emphasizes this connection and the singer's commitment to fulfill this role.
Overall, the lyrics of "Roots" delve into the complexities of belonging and identity, exploring the interplay between light and darkness, as well as the singer's sense of responsibility and connection to others.
