Choir And Marching Band Lyrics

Of skins and heart and I come apart
In your icy hands
I forget my role, as I stare into your soul
In the empty place you change your mind
You change your clothes you change your pose
For a perfect fit
For a moment we're strangers
For a minute you look away
For a second or always
For an instant another day
Such strange things you say
In the empty place we dress our wounds
Collect our coats, a window gloats
Above a street
I prepare my case, as I stare into your face
Just one me one you
The world contains a few
Is it true, is it truly new
Are we through the stolen door once more
The lyrics of the song "In The Empty Place" by Choir And Marching Band speak about a space within us where we feel bare and vulnerable. It's a place where we lose all our defenses and let our soul be exposed. The singer mentions how, in this state, they come apart in the icy hands of another person. The person they are referring to seems to have a hold over them, and they forget their role as they stare into their soul. This could allude to an unhealthy relationship or a situation where one person has power over another.
The lyrics further emphasize how the person in control changes their mind, clothes, and pose to fit perfectly into the situation. The singer forgets their cast or character and is lost in the other person's past. There is a sense of disconnect between the two people, and they become strangers for a moment. The singer prepares their case, possibly indicating that they want to confront this person, but they are still lost in their gaze.
The chorus talks about strange things said in this empty place, where they dress their wounds and leave the place behind. The singer realizes it's just the two of them and a few more people in the world, and wonders if this moment is truly new. The song ends with a mysterious question about whether they are through the stolen door once more. Overall, the lyrics are open to interpretation and could speak to different people on different levels.

This show needed work. Im a former UEMB member and ever since medina left the marching went to crap, you guys werent strict on enough things in my last two years. didnt enforce enough things compared to previous years which caused a lot of slip ups and a bad performance. work on faster marching and enforcing more

@AaronAstro agreed
AaronAstro
@PacPhaZ You'd be surprised how many of us did feel this way and didn't speak up. In hindsight it would have been better to speak up about our concerns but on the other hand, would they have listened?

@AaronAstro Thank you for the backup on this, I knew i couldnt be the only one. Its ashame to see such good potential go to waste due to the lack of disipline and hard work

As another alumni, I do agree. I felt myself getting frustrated with it as the years went on. I’m probably bias but my father honestly NAILED directing the visual performance with these shows. Unfortunately with both Brainard and Bill gone, the future doesn’t look all to bright. But who knows? I hope I’ll be proven wrong. I’ll remain cautiously optimistic.
