Dona eis requiem sempiternam
Merciful Lord Jesus
Grant them eternal rest
The lyrics of "Pie Jesu" by Choir of Kings College – Cambridge are a haunting and beautiful requiem. The Latin words translate to "Merciful Lord Jesus, grant them eternal rest". The song is typically performed during Requiem Mass and funerals, and is a prayer asking for peace and comfort for those who have passed away.
The solemn tones of the music, combined with the pure and other-worldly voices of the choir, create a sense of reverence and respect for the departed. The lyrics remind us of the fragility of life and the inevitability of death. In times of grief and loss, "Pie Jesu" serves as a reminder that there is hope and comfort to be found in faith and the afterlife.

Don't think Tom made it to Christmas with his glorious treble intact, so what a high to go out on!. Albert Hall, no less. One can tell just looking into his eyes what a fine young man is in there. Just magic, unbearably beautiful. Thank you.

I don't know if his voice broke, but he moved to his next school after the summer term. There's a mention of this on their Facebook page, July 1st 2016. I agree with you that this is a wonderful performance of the Pie Jesu.

Very moving solo, and as good as any recorded performance that I know of. Must be sung by a treble for full impact.

We actually sang this with our choir long ago, but we don't do it anymore, but I wish we would 😢
