Stoke up the fire mom bake me a pie stick a big chicken
in the skillet to fry

Bake me some biscuits a chocolate cake too I'm comin'
home mom home to see you

Well it's been a long time now since I've been away
I've been rodeoin' for many a day

Now I'm returnin' no more to be blue I'm comin' home mom home to see you

I met me a lady as sweet as can be I asked her to marry she said yes siree

No more to be lonely no more to be blue

Now were comin' home mom home to see you

I met me a lady...

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Chris's song "Hold On I'm Coming" tell the story of a cowboy who has been away from home for a long time, but is finally coming back to see his mother. He asks her to cook him some of his favourite dishes and tells her that he has found a sweet lady to marry. The song is a joyful tribute to the comfort of home and the warmth of family.

The lyrics evoke a sense of nostalgia and longing for home, but at the same time, there is a strong sense of forward progress and hopefulness in the way that the cowboy looks forward to the future with his new wife. The imagery of baking pies and cooking chicken creates a vivid sensory impression of home cooking and the simple pleasures of domestic life.

Overall, the song is an uplifting celebration of love, family, and homecoming. It is a reminder that no matter how far we roam or how long we are away, there is always a place to come back to that will welcome us and offer us comfort.

This is actually a very country country song. It's about someone who still wants someone they shouldn't want. It's about a memory. A very strong memory. So strong he can't stand not to have her again, even if it's in vain. People who don't like this song are dissing good old Country music. LOVE THIS! Besides, who can't identify with at least one person in their life that made them feel this way?

Yes I'm in love with this woman and she did me wrong so many times it makes me look stupid but why can't I just let that girl go maybe something is wrong with me I can't get her out of my head we split up in 2017 I still talk to her some and I don't love punishment but she does something for me that I feel that I haven't felt for anyone I been with about 18 women in my 42 years and how I get hung up on her idk I even tried to be with someone else and it didn't work out I'm still inlove with her ugh it is terrible and she has no intention of getting back with me but it's like I want her I wish I had someone else who would show me what I am missing I'm a little tired of not measuring up....
