CENTER OF IT
Chris August Lyrics

I can't win, can't get it right and
It don't matter how hard I try
Today is not my day
When it feels like I'm going crazy
And it looks like nothing's changing
Come sun come rainy day
You are still the same
In the dark, in the light
In the morning and night
In the good, in the hurt
In the places I hide
When I rise, when I fall
You'll be there through it all
At the start, at the end
In the center of the center of it
Some nights I lay awake and
I can't push these thoughts away
I'm worried where I'm gonna go
Where I'm gonna be are You gonna be there for me
When it feels like the doors are closing
Gotta trust that You're doing something
Come sun come rainy day
You are all I need
There will be days I will forget
Everything You've done for me
But when I go back there again
I'm reminded
In the dark, in the light
In the morning and the night
In the dark, in the light
In the morning and night
In the good, in the hurt
In the places I hide
When I rise, when I fall
You'll be there through it all
At the start, at the end
In the center of the center of it
In the loss, in the win
In the beauty and the sin
At the start, at the end
In the center of the center of it
"Center of It" is a song by Chris August about having faith in God even in times of struggle and doubt. The lyrics express the familiar feeling of inadequacy and fear of the future that most people experience at some point in their lives. The song is narrated from the perspective of someone who feels like they are constantly failing and falling short, but finds comfort in the knowledge that God is always present and unchanging.
The opening lyrics describe a sense of helplessness and frustration, with the singer feeling like they cannot get anything right, no matter how hard they try. The chorus speaks to the consistency of God's presence, stating that God is there through both good times and bad, light and dark, and everything in between. The second verse speaks to the fear of the unknown and the future, but ends on a hopeful note, emphasizing the importance of trust in God's plan.
The repeated phrase "in the center of it" reflects the idea that God is at the center of everything, even in the midst of chaos and uncertainty. The song encourages listeners to find solace in the knowledge that God is always there, even when we forget or doubt that fact.

Today is not my day
it feels like today isn't my lucky day.

You remain constant and unchanging.

Listening to old Christian songs like this hurts so much but it's nice to look back on my childhood. I hope God still has patience for me some day...

This song came to my mind recently. It was always one of my favorites lyrically and melodically. There can be so many distractions and trials in this life, but it's important to remember that Christ is in the center of it all. Time will continue to pass, but this song's message remains the same. Thank you, Chris!
